A single mouse Lgr5-positive colon stem cell can be expanded into a three-dimensional organoid that, after transplant, contributes to the repair of injured colon epithelia in a mouse model of colitis.

Multiple processes connected closely during the endless strip production (ESP) rolling, it is difficult to obtain the global optimal solution by multi-objective modelling of a single process, and the parameters to be optimized coupled with each other. To obtain the optimal solution, a multi-objective optimization model combining the power consumption, product quality, and loading balance was proposed for the design of an ESP rolling schedule. The thickness and heating temperature were simultaneously taken as the decision variables for coupling the temperature and loading in the rolling process, and the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II (NSGA-II) based on differential evolution (NSGA-II-DE) was applied to obtain the Pareto solutions.

Purpose: To investigate the prognostic ability of blink rate and the proportion of incomplete blinking to predict dry eye disease diagnosis, as defined by the TFOS DEWS II criteria.
Methods: A total of 453 community residents (282 females, 171 males; mean ± SD age, 37 ± 19 years) were recruited in an investigator-masked, prospective registry-based, cross-sectional, prognostic study. Dry eye symptomology, tear film quality, and ocular surface characteristics were assessed in a single clinical session, and blink parameters evaluated by an independent masked observer.

Background: Personal protective equipment (PPE) doffing protocols can reduce risks of pathogen self-contamination. Powered air purifying respirators (PAPRs) may increase these risks. This study compares viral contamination and errors during simulated doffing of single layer vs double layer hood PAPRs.

Sanfilippo syndrome (mucopolysaccharidosis type III, MPSIII) causes childhood dementia, while Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of adult-onset dementia. There is no cure for either of these diseases, and therapeutic options are extremely limited. Increasing evidence suggests commonalities in the pathogenesis of these diseases.

Dopaminergic system gains importance in homeostatic sleep regulation, but the role of different dopamine receptors is not well-defined. 72 h rat electrocorticogram and sleep recordings were made after single application of dopaminergic drugs in clinical use or at least underwent clinical trials. The non-selective agonist apomorphine evoked short pharmacological sleep deprivation with intense wakefulness followed by pronounced sleep rebound.
