Objective: To establish the HPLC fingerprint analysis method for the quality control of acetoacetate extraction of Polygonum orientale.
Methods: Agilent C18 (4.6 mm x 250 mm, 5 microm); DAD detector; Mobile phase: methyl alcohol-water gradient elution at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min, and at a column temperature of 30 degrees C.
Results: 26 peaks were selected as the common fingerprint peaks. The relative standard deviations for relative retention values were less than 3% in the precision and repeated test.
Conclusion: The repetition, stability and precision of the method is good and it can be used to control the quality of Polygonum orientale.

Objective: Idiopathic epilepsy (IE) is the most common chronic neurological disease in dogs and an established natural animal model for human epilepsy types with genetic and unknown etiology. However, the metabolic pathways underlying IE remain largely unknown.
Methods: Plasma samples of healthy dogs (n = 39) and dogs with IE (n = 49) were metabolically profiled (n = 121 known target metabolites) and fingerprinted (n = 1825 untargeted features) using liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry.

The volatile profile of bee pollen samples from Central and Eastern Europe was investigated by headspace solid phase microextraction (HS-SPME) combined with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry-olfactometry (GC-MS-O). Sampling conditions were optimized for the extraction of volatiles. Pollen odorants were extracted with six different fiber coatings, five various extraction times, three diverse extraction temperatures and three differing desorption times.

Wildlife forensics is a relatively underexplored field of science. It provides forensic evidence to support legal investigations involving wildlife crime, such as the trafficking and poaching of animals and/or their goods. The consequences of poaching are not just limited to a decline in animal welfare and include the spread of zoonotic disease, species, cultural and habitat loss, and injury of anti-poaching rangers.

BCL11B is a Cys2-His2 zinc-finger (C2H2-ZnF) domain-containing, DNA-binding, transcription factor with established roles in the development of various organs and tissues, primarily the immune and nervous systems. BCL11B germline variants have been associated with a variety of developmental syndromes. However, genotype-phenotype correlations along with pathophysiologic mechanisms of selected variants mostly remain elusive.

Beta - stimulant, that is, β - adrenergic stimulant, also known as β - agonists, is bioactive catecholamine compounds naturally produced in animals' adrenal medulla glands that induce relaxation in asthmatic airway smooth muscles upon inhalation while also temporarily boosting athletic alertness and alleviating fatigue. However, their potential for dependency poses health risks including unnoticed exacerbation leading to severe illness or fatality prompting their inclusion on WADA's prohibited substances list. Surface - enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) offers a rapid, sensitive, and label - free means for identifying characteristic peaks associated with β - agonist compounds.
