This work presents the development of a rhodamine-based colorimetric and turn-on fluorescent chemosensor (P1) designed for selective recognition of Ni ions. Chemosensor P1 exhibited remarkable sensitivity and selectivity for Ni ions, exhibiting clear colorimetric and fluorescence responses. The binding interactions were meticulously examined using UV-Vis.

The research aimed to develop of a thiabendazole-derived dual metal sensing probe (TBZT) for the selective detection of metal ions and to explore its metal complexes in reducing environmental pollutants like nitro-phenol and dyes. Absorption and emission based studies predicted the selectivity and sensitivity of TBZT towards Ni(II) and Co(II) ions which was further validated by HNMR, Mass, FT-IR, DFT, Docking, electrochemical, TGA studies and vibrating sample magnetometer analysis techniques. Limit of detection (LOD) values were calculated as 2 × 10 M and 4.

Construction of single probes for simultaneous detection of common trivalent metal ions has attracted much attention due to higher efficiency in analysis and cost. A naphthalimide-based fluorescent probe K1 was synthesized for selective detection of Al, Cr and Fe ions. Fluorescence emission intensity at 534 nm of probe K1 in DMSO/HO (9:1, v/v) was significantly enhanced upon addition of Al, Cr and Fe ions while addition of other metal ions (Li, Na, K, Ag, Cu, Fe, Zn, Co, Ni, Mn, Sr, Hg, Ca, Mg, Ce, Bi and Au) did not bring about substantial change in fluorescence emission.

Background: Hemophilia B, or Christmas disease, is a hemorrhagic inherited disorder. Previous studies have reported measurement discrepancies in factor VIII activity between clot-based and chromogenic assays in approximately one-third of patients with non-severe hemophilia A. However, similar discrepancies in hemophilia B have been less extensively studied.

To address the toxicity concerns of aluminum ions (Al) due to their widespread environmental presence, a novel chromone-derived fluorescent probe, (E)-N'-((4-oxo-4H-chromen-3-yl)methylene)benzohydrazide (NMA), was developed for dual-mode detection combining colorimetric and fluorometric channels. Upon chelation with Al in a 1:1 stoichiometric ratio, NMA exhibited a significant fluorescence enhancement at 510 nm, accompanied by a rapid and visible color change due to the chelation-enhanced fluorescence (CHEF) effect, achieving an exceptional detection limit of 9 nM-well below the World Health Organization's recommended threshold. The reversible binding of NMA, demonstrated through sequential addition of Al and EDTA, enabled the construction of an INHIBIT molecular logic gate, broadening its potential for smart sensing applications.
