Paecilomyces lilacinus infection is rare and is found worldwide. The majority of infections occur in immunocompromised people. Among immunocompetent patients, cutaneous infections are the second most common site of infection but are difficult to treat because of antifungal resistance. We report a case of hand cutaneous involvement with synovitis in an immunocompetent patient that improved after treatment with oral voriconazole. To the best of our knowledge, there are only five published cases of cutaneous P.lilacinus infection, all in immunocompromised patient, treated with oral voriconazole. We review all previously reported cases.

This study investigates the nematicidal efficacy of strain (AUMC 10620) combined with avermectin (B1a and B1b) against the citrus nematode , both in vitro and in vivo. Laboratory experiments tested four concentrations of (2.5, 5, 10, and 15 × 10 spores/mL) mixed with 250 ppm avermectin, assessing their effects on nematode juveniles (J2) and eggs.

Multiple studies have been conducted to investigate the impact of space conditions on human, plant, and microbial life. This research investigated the virulence of spaceflight mutants of the entomopathogenic fungus Purpureocillium lilacinum (HP7, HP36, HP52) and its original strain (SP535) against Tetranychus cinnabarinus as well as examination of the T. cinnabarinus immune response, including alterations in enzyme profiles and microbiome composition post fungal application.

The primary aim of this research was to study the effectiveness of various strains of antagonist microorganisms and biological preparations against , in addition to their impact on the quality of tomato fruits and crop structure. Four microorganism strains and three registered environmentally safe nematicides were used in the experiment presented herein. The results showed that the strains F-22BK/6 and F-22BK/4 had the greatest biological efficacy, reducing the number of galls on tomato plants by 91.

Cesium accumulation and plant growth promotion characteristics of A10 isolated from L. rhizosphere soil.

Int J Phytoremediation

December 2024

Key Laboratory of the Evaluation and Monitoring of Southwest Land Resources (Ministry of Education), Sichuan Normal University, Chengdu, China.

The combined microbial-plant remediation has increasingly been used to remediate heavy metal-contaminated soil. Some microorganisms could enhance phytoremediation efficiency by solubilizing heavy metal and improve plant growth by producing phytohormones in the heavy metal contaminated soils. In the present study, a strong cesium (Cs)-tolerant fungal strain was identified from soil microorganisms contaminated with Cs, and the enrichment conditions for Cs were optimized.

Leucinostatins target Plasmodium mitochondria to block malaria transmission.

Parasit Vectors

December 2024

Department of Biological Sciences, Florida International University, 11200 SW 8th St, Miami, FL, 33199, USA.

Background: Malaria remains a critical disease. Leucinostatins from the fungus Purpureocillium lilacinum inhibited the transmission of Plasmodium falciparum to mosquitoes via contact.

Methods: Here, we modified the leucinostatin B (LB) C-terminus to make derivatives and examined their inhibition against malaria transmission to mosquitoes.
