In order to evaluate the role of milk in the transmission of BLV, the presence of the virus and viral antibodies was investigated in cattle that were born to, and nursed on, infected dams and then raised in isolation or in contact with infected animals. Only 3 of the 17 isolated cattle became infected during 25-29 months of observation. During the same period of time, all 17 cattle raised in contact with BLV-positive animals developed BLV infection. From these results, it is apparent that milk-borne transmission of BLV, if it occurs, is much less frequent than contact transmission.

ine orporator 5 (INC5, SER5) suppresses viral cell-free infection. However, its antiviral potency under viral cell-cell infection is not examined yet. Here, we established the cell-cell infection systems to assess SER5's antiviral activity on HIV-1 and bovine leukemia virus (BLV).

Bovine leukemia virus (BLV) is the causative agent of enzootic bovine leukosis, an oncogenic deltaretrovirus that has emerged as a potential zoonotic infection. The BLV naturally infects cattle and causes economic losses through a slow persistent infection with various clinical symtoms following preleukosis. The main objective of this study was to determine the seroprevalence of BLV antibodies in cattle and buffaloes in the border provinces of the Eastern Anatolia region, Türkiye, using the agar gel immunodiffusion (AGID) assay and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).

The proviral load (PVL) of the bovine leukemia virus (BLV) is a useful index for estimating disease progression and transmission risk. Real-time quantitative PCR techniques are widely used for PVL quantification. We previously developed a dual-target detection method, the "Liquid Dual-CoCoMo assay", that uses the coordination of common motif (CoCoMo) degenerate primers.

Background: Bovine leukaemia virus (BLV)-infected Holstein cattle carrying certain bovine leukocyte antigen (BoLA)-DRB3 alleles were previously shown to be resistant to BLV provirus multiplication, while those carrying other alleles were susceptible. This study aimed to determine whether the BoLA-DRB3 alleles carried by BLV-infected cattle could predict proviral load (PVL) and peripheral blood lymphocyte (PBL) count distribution (PVL/PBL distribution).

Methods: Blood samples from Holstein cattle on four dairy farms were tested for the presence of BLV antibodies using a commercial ELISA.

Faculty of Industrial Chemistry and Environmental Engineering, Politehnica University Timisoara, 6 Vasile Parvan Blv, 300223 Timisoara, Romania.

The integration of nanomaterials into the textile industry has significantly advanced the development of high-performance fabrics, offering enhanced properties such as UV blocking, fire resistance, breathability, hydrophobicity, antimicrobial activity, and dust rejection. In this context, our research explores the development and characterization of electrospun membranes composed of polyether ether ketone (PEEK) and various polyimides (PIs (1-6)), focusing on their application in protective clothing. The combination of phosphorus-containing polyimides and PEEK, along with the electrospinning process, enhances the distinctive properties of both PEEK and polyimides, leading to composite membranes that stand out according to key parameters essential for maintaining physiological balance.
