A patient with neurological symptoms underwent CT scan that showed a sellar and suprasellar mass with bone erosions, involving especially the clivus and the right petrous apex. The first diagnostic hypothesis was chordoma in relation to the mass position. The MRI showed a solid well-enhancing mass; moreover another circumscribed lesion, with similar signal pattern, was found in the left mandibular condyle. the signal and the presence of another lesion did not agree with diagnosis of chordoma. FDG-PET/CT study showed multiple pathological uptakes suggesting a metastatic disease. A trans-sphenoidal excisional biopsy was performed and the histopathological analysis showed a population of cells consistent with a plasmacell tumor, confirmed by the presence of a monoclonal gammopathy on blood analysis. Our case suggests that FDG-PET/CT can modify the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in myeloma, by evaluating the bone marrow involvement.

In order to study the mechanical response and crack evolution law of different lithologic rock bodies under different stress environments in deep stress mines, based on the deviator stress theory, the actual triaxial disturbance unloading rock test system was used to simulate the stress occurrence environment of the original rock. The mechanical characteristics of different σ2 coal rock masses were studied, and the crack evolution law of coal and sandstone under different stress environments was analyzed. The results show that the increase of σ2 inhibits the deformation in the σ2 direction of coal and sandstone, promotes the expansion and deformation in the σ3 direction, and enhances its peak strength and elastic modulus.

To study the stress characteristics of existing prestressed bolts and slope stability during secondary excavation in a slope reconstruction and expansion project, five slope centrifugal tests were conducted. Tests focused on prestressed bolt-reinforced bedding slope with anchoring angles of 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°, and 60° during the excavation phase. The test results showed that the horizontal displacement at slope top increased slightly during the excavation of rock and soil masses in the upper slope part, while during the excavation of slope foot, such displacement increased rapidly.

Rock masses in deep engineering are often subjected to high geothermal effect, and blasting is a key technique for deep rock excavation. It is crucial to study the dynamic characteristics of fractured rock masses under high geothermal conditions and blasting excavation. This paper focuses on fractured gabbro, examining the effects of high temperatures on its surface chromaticity and mass.
