A new hexadienamide derivative named sarmentosamide (1) was identified from the culture of Streptomyces sp. SBI108 isolated from Thai soil under an herb. The structure was elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data, and the absolute configuration was determined by chemical degradation.

Background: Intestinal parasitic infections (IPIs) are a major health problem among the Karen hill tribe in Thailand. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of an integrated intervention program of drug therapy combined with water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) education on reinfection with IPIs among the Karen hill tribe in an endemic area of northern Thailand.
Methods: A quasi-experimental study was conducted in two Karen villages, involving 691 residents, in Omkoi District, Chiang Mai Province; one village was designated as the intervention group and the other as the control group.

Populations of forest trees exhibit large temporal fluctuations, but little is known about the synchrony of these fluctuations across space, including their sign, magnitude, causes and characteristic scales. These have important implications for metapopulation persistence and theoretical community ecology. Using data from permanent forest plots spanning local, regional and global spatial scales, we measured spatial synchrony in tree population growth rates over sub-decadal and decadal timescales and explored the relationship of synchrony to geographical distance.

RNA-sequencing enables the comprehensive detection of gene expression levels at specific time points and facilitates the identification of stress-related genes through co-expression network analysis. Understanding the molecular mechanisms and identifying key genes associated with salt tolerance is crucial for developing rice varieties that can thrive in saline environments, particularly in regions affected by soil salinization. In this study, we conducted an RNA-sequencing-based time-course transcriptome analysis of 'Jao Khao', a salt-tolerant Thai rice variety, grown under normal or saline (160 mM NaCl) soil conditions.

Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a genetic condition characterized by an excessive response to androgens, leading to hairline regression in men and hair thinning at the vertex in women, which can negatively impact self-esteem. Conventional synthetic treatments for AGA are often limited by their side effects. In contrast, Thai medicinal plants offer a promising alternative with fewer adverse effects.
