Objective: To evaluate a new chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay (ARCHITECT Chagas(®), Abbott).

Methods: In this study, 165 samples were tested by two different serological tests. The ARCHITECT Chagas(®) assay was performed using ARCHITECT i2000(SR) system (Abbott).

Results: The sensitivity and specificity of ARCHITECT assay was 100% and 96.6%, respectively. The concordance rate was 0.96 (95%CI: 0.92-1) for ELISA and 0.91 (95%CI: 0.85-0.97) for immunofluorescence assay (IFA).

Conclusions: The ARCHITECT Chagas(®) assay demonstrates a sensitivity and specificity similar to ELISA and IFA assays; it allows a large volume of samples to be processed with a good standardization and reproducibility, as well as an objective interpretation.

In this study, we aimed to evaluate the suitability of the use of four frequently used thermal comfort indices (thermal indices)-Wet Bulb Global Temperature (WGBT), Heat Index (HI), Physiologically Equivalent Temperature (PET), and Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI)-to assess human thermal comfort perception in three large urban parks in Central Europe, using Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, as a case study. Bioinspired shape-morphing soft magnetic actuators have potential applications in medicine, robotics, and engineering due to their soft body, untethered control, and infinite degrees of freedom. The shape programming of the soft magnetic actuators (consisting of soft ferromagnetic CI particles in a soft matrix) is an involved task, as it requires a moulding process severely limiting the capability to program complex shapes. The current study explores a shape programming technique that architects the particle pattern configuration in the actuator, mimicking the pattern found in the mould-programmed actuator, thereby eliminating the need for a mould and providing a greater capability of programming complex shapes.
