The performances of nine biosorbents derived from dead fungal biomass were investigated for their ability to remove Reactive Black 5 from aqueous solution. The biosorption data for removal of Reactive Black 5 were readily modeled using the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Kinetic analysis based on both pseudo-second-order and Weber-Morris models indicated intraparticle diffusion was the rate limiting step for biosorption of Reactive Black 5 on to the biosorbents. Sorption capacities of the biosorbents were not correlated with the initial biosorption rates. Sensitivity analysis of the factors affecting biosorption examined by an artificial neural network model showed that pH was the most important parameter, explaining 22%, followed by nitrogen content of biosorbents (16%), initial dye concentration (15%) and carbon content of biosorbents (10%). The biosorption capacities were not proportional to surface areas of the sorbents, but were instead influenced by their chemical element composition. The main functional groups contributing to dye sorption were amine, carboxylic, and alcohol moieties. The data further suggest that differences in carbon and nitrogen contents of biosorbents may be used as a selection index for identifying effective biosorbents from dead fungal biomass.

Purpose: The primary objective was to determine any difference in perioperative respiratory complications in children undergoing intracapsular tonsillectomy versus those undergoing total tonsillectomy for sleep-disordered breathing or obstructive sleep apnea.
Methods: All children undergoing total tonsillectomy from November 2015 to December 2017 and intracapsular tonsillectomy from May 2016 to July 2020 for sleep-disordered breathing or obstructive sleep apnea were included in the study.
Results: 2408 patients underwent total tonsillectomy whereas 410 patients underwent intracapsular tonsillectomy.

The reaction of the diborabenzene (DBB) nickel(0) pogo-stick complex [(η-DBB)Ni(CO)] () with a large excess of [Ni(CO)] yields the dark green, unstable dinickel(0) complex [(η-DBB)Ni(μ-CO)Ni(CO)] (), which loses one CO ligand to yield the purple, bimetallic Ni half-sandwich complex [(η-DBB)Ni(μ-CO)(η-CO)] (). The addition of the chromium aminoborylene complex [(OC)Cr{BN(TMS)}] (TMS = trimethylsilyl) to does not result in the expected borylene transfer but in the formation of the black Ni-Cr complex [(η-DBB)Ni(μ-CO)Cr(CO)] (), alongside the dimeric iminoborane [(TMS)BN(TMS)] (), which results from the rearrangement of the released BN(TMS) aminoborylene moiety. Furthermore, the oxidative addition of methyl triflate (MeOTf) to leaves the (η-DBB)Ni moiety intact and provides the ionic Ni half-sandwich complex [(η-DBB)NiMe(CO)]OTf (), while reaction with pentaphenylborole (PPB) yields the unique, dark-blue, unsymmetrical sandwich complex [(η-DBB)Ni(μ-CO)(η-PPB)] ().
