Let j be a positive integer. For each integer n > j we consider the connectedness locus M(n) of the family of polynomials P(c)(z)=z(n) - cz(n-j), where c is a complex parameter. We prove that lim n→∞ M(n) = D in the Hausdorff topology, where D is the unitary closed disk {c;|c|≤1}.

Objective: In this study, we aimed to position the Hungarian Merino among other Merino-derived sheep breeds, explore the characteristics of our sampled animals' genetic similarity network within the breed, and highlight single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with daily weight-gain.

Methods: Hungarian Merino (n = 138) was genotyped on Ovine SNP50 Bead Chip (Illumina, San Diego, CA, USA) and positioned among 30 Merino and Merino-derived breeds (n = 555). Population characteristics were obtained via PLINK, SVS, Admixture, and Treemix software, within-breed network was analysed with python networkx 2.

Partial overlap between holistic processing of words and Gestalt line stimuli at an early perceptual stage.

Mem Cognit

August 2022

CICPSI - Faculdade de Psicologia, Universidade de Lisboa, 1649-013, Lisbon, Portugal.

A dual-route account of holistic processing has been proposed, which includes a stimulus-based and experience-based approach to holistic processing. The bottom-up route was suggested by the observation of holistic processing for novel Gestalt line patterns in the absence of expertise. For words, there is mainly evidence for a late, lexical, experience-based locus of holistic processing with scarce evidence for an early, stimulus-based locus.

Background: There is currently a lack of qualitative research exploring how cognitive and emotional reactions to the threat of SARS-CoV-2 affected the health behaviours of people living with and without pre-existing mental and physical health conditions. We aimed to investigate how the threat of SARS-CoV-2 influenced the thoughts, feelings and health behaviours of people with and without pre-existing health conditions in the UK.

Methods: A cross-sectional online survey of UK adults (aged 18 and over).
