Palmitate potentiates the SMAD3-PAI-1 pathway by reducing nuclear GDF15 levels.

Cell Mol Life Sci

Nuclear growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF15) reduces the binding of the mothers' against decapentaplegic homolog (SMAD) complex to its DNA-binding elements. However, the stimuli that control this process are unknown. Here, we examined whether saturated fatty acids (FA), particularly palmitate, regulate nuclear GDF15 levels and the activation of the SMAD3 pathway in human skeletal myotubes and mouse skeletal muscle, where most insulin-stimulated glucose use occurs in the whole organism.

China is the largest producer and consumer of geese with significant social and economic value in agriculture. The Jilin White Goose, known for its excellent egg-laying and reproductive characteristics, is a prominent breeding breed in the northeast of China widely used for cross-breeding.Gonad development is a complex process, which will differentiate into testes or ovaries, thus affecting sex determination.

Introduction: Pancreatic cancer (PC) is one of the deadliest malignancies worldwide, with a low five-year survival rate of less than 10%. Transforming growth factor β regulator 4 (TBRG4) is differentially expressed in PC tissues, but its specific functions and regulatory role in PC have not been clarified.

Methods: TBRG4 mRNA expression in PC cells was measured by qRT-PCR.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a debilitating, incurable, and life-threatening disease that lacks effective therapy. The overexpression of phosphodiesterase 10A (PDE10A) plays a vital role in pulmonary fibrosis (PF). However, the impact of selective PDE10A inhibitors on the tumor growth factor-β (TGF-β)/small mother against decapentaplegic (Smad) signaling pathway remains unclear.

Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is a serious complication in premature infants. This study aimed to investigate the mechanism of mitogen-activated protein 3 kinase 7 (Map3k7) affecting BPD by regulating caspase-1 mediated pyroptosis. The morphology of the lung tissue was observed using hematoxylin-eosin staining.
