Silent Sinus Syndrome of the Frontal Sinus: A Case Report.

Cureus

December 2024

Otolaryngology, Fairfield General Hospital, Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, Manchester, GBR.

Silent sinus syndrome is a rare condition that typically affects the maxillary sinus, with only a few reported cases of frontal sinus involvement. Objectives: To compare longitudinal improvement in nasal obstruction quality-of-life outcomes between medial flap turbinoplasty (MFT) and inferior turbinate submucous resection (SMR) concurrently performed with functional septorhinoplasty.

Methods: Retrospective review of a prospectively collected cohort of patients undergoing functional septorhinoplasty between 2015 and 2022 at a tertiary academic center. Outcomes were assessed using the Nasal Obstruction Symptom Evaluation (NOSE) questionnaire preoperatively and over 12 months postoperatively.

Introduction: The anterior ethmoidal artery (AEA) flap has been demonstrated to be a reliable option for endoscopic repair of symptomatic nasal septal perforations. The use of fresh frozen cadaveric rib cartilage has been described as a safe alternative graft for rhinoplasty procedures.

Goal: The aim of this study was to discuss our initial outcomes of use of cadaveric rib cartilage graft in combination with the AEA flap in endoscopic nasal septal perforation repair.

Comparison on functional and esthetic outcomes between single and combined surgery to crooked nose deformities.

J Plast Reconstr Aesthet Surg

November 2024

Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and Chang Gung University, College of Medicine, Taoyuan, Taiwan. Electronic address:

Background: Nose deviation deformities pose a complex cosmetic and functional problem. The most common surgical intervention to manage such deformities is septorhinoplasty, typically performed by a plastic surgeon or a rhinologist. This study investigated the effect of a combined operation by a plastic surgeon and rhinologist, comparing them with those operations performed singlehandedly by a plastic surgeon.
