This study aimed to investigate whether activation of PPARγ regulates M1/M2 macrophage polarization to attenuate dextran sulfate sodium salt (DSS)-induced inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) via the STAT-1/STAT-6 pathway in vivo and in vitro. We first examined the effect of PPARγ on macrophage polarization in LPS/IFN-γ-treated M1 RAW264.7 cells and IL-4/IL-13-treated M2 RAW264.

Efficacy and safety of low-dose TBI combined MAC regimen for HSCT in high-risk AML patients with active disease.

Ann Med

December 2025

Department of Hematology, Affiliated Hangzhou First People's Hospital, Westlake University, School of Medicine, Hangzhou, China.

Background: The management of high-risk acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) remains challenging, highlighting the need for innovative conditioning strategies beyond current regimens.

Methods: In the present single-arm study, a FACT regimen comprised of low-dose total body irradiation (TBI) with fludarabine, cytarabine and cyclophosphamide was employed to treat cytogenetically high-risk AML patients exhibiting pre-transplant active disease. This clinical trial is registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry with the registration number ChiCTR2000035111.

Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, University of Cincinnati; Cincinnati, OH 45267, USA.

Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a cystic lung disease that primarily affects women. LAM is caused by the invasion of metastatic smooth muscle-like cells into the lung parenchyma, leading to abnormal cell proliferation, lung remodeling and progressive respiratory failure. LAM cells have TSC gene mutations, which occur sporadically or in people with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex.

Background: Richter's transformation (RT) in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is associated with poor prognosis and requires prompt modifications in patient care. CLL patients are susceptible to severe infections due to immune dysregulation induced by their malignancy and immunosuppressive therapies.

Case Presentation: We present a case of a 63-year-old man with CLL who previously achieved remission and presented with a right inguinal mass.

The treatment of relapsed/refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is associated with a dismal prognosis. The allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) is frequently performed as salvage therapy. Reduced intensity conditioning protocols have been developed with the aim of reducing the leukemia burden without increasing their toxicity.
