From the water-soluble extract of the aerial part of herbal plant Nervilia fordii, three new cycloartane glycosides, named as nervisides A (1), B (2), and C (3), were isolated. Their structures were elucidated through a combination of spectroscopic analysis and hydrolysis. At the same time, the new compounds were tested for their cytotoxicities in vitro against human tumor cell lines (CNE, Hep-2, and HepG2) using MTT method.

The isolation, structure determination, and biological evaluation of constituents from the organic extract of Wahlert (Meliaceae) resulted in the isolation of 51 secondary metabolites, including 14 new terpenoids (six cycloartanes, four tirucallanes/euphanes, three limonoids, and a 7-keto sterol). Among the new compounds, is the first triterpenoid with a trioxaspiro[4.4]nonane side chain, while - are the first 17-γ-lactone tetranortriterpenoids with four oxygenated functional groups at C-1, -3, -6, and -7.

Characterization studies of the plant metabolome are crucial for revealing plant physiology, developing functional foods, and controlling quality. Mass spectrometry-based metabolite profiling allows unprecedented qualitative coverage of complex biological extract composition. However, the electrospray ionization used in metabolite profiling generates multiple artifactual signals for a single analyte, which makes it challenging to filter out redundant signals and organize the signals corresponding to abundant constituents.

It was found that Argentatins A and B triterpenoids make up approximately 20-30 % of the waste resin produced from the industrial processes to isolate rubber from P. argentatum. We have developed an efficient protocol for synthesizing cycloartane-16β-ol derivatives by opening the oxepane ring of argentatin B acetate (2) with BF-OEt.

This study induced biological stress in Sorbus pohuashanensis suspension cell(SPSC) with yeast extract(YE) as a bio-tic elicitor and isolated and identified secondary metabolites of triterpenoids produced under stress conditions. Twenty-six triterpenoids, including fifteen ursane-type triterpenoids(1-15), two 18,19-seco-ursane-type triterpenoids(16-17), four lupine-type triterpenoids(18-21), two cycloartane-type triterpenoids(22-23), and three squalene-type triterpenoids(24-26), were isolated and purified from the methanol extract of SPSC by chromatography on silica gel, MCI, Sephadex LH-20, and MPLC. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses.

In this study, a new acylated triterpene glycoside, 3--stearoyl-28-[2'-stearoyl--l-arabinopyranosyl]-olean-12-en-28-oic acid (), was isolated from the flowers of . In addition to this compound, eleven known compounds were also isolated, including a related pentacyclic triterpenoid: ursolic acid (), two cycloartane triterpenoids: 24-methylenecycloartanol () and 24-methylenecycloartane-3,28-diol (), three cyclohexylethane derivatives: (-)-rengyolone (), (-)-cleroindicin C () and (-)-cleroindicin D (), an iridoid: 6---feruloyl catalpol (), two phenylethanoid glycosides: salidroside () and verbascoside (), and two steroids: -sitosterol () and -sitosterol-3---d-glucopyranoside (). The chemical structures of these compounds were determined by analysing their HRMS and NMR spectroscopic data.
