A 65 year-old woman developed tachycardia and hypotension during haemodialysis. The non-contact mapping system was used to localise the origin of focal atrial tachycardia, and showed a remote from the endocardium focus. We discuss techniques that are helpful in identifying the origin, the area of preferential conduction, and the endocardial breakthrough of tachycardia.

Nondestructive Monitoring of Textile-Reinforced Cementitious Composites Subjected to Freeze-Thaw Cycles.

Materials (Basel)

December 2024

Department of Mechanics of Materials and Constructions, Faculty of Engineering, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, B-1050 Brussels, Belgium.

Cementitious materials are susceptible to damage not only from mechanical loading, but also from environmental (physical, chemical, and biological) factors. For Textile-Reinforced Cementitious (TRC) composites, durability poses a significant challenge, and a reliable method to assess long-term performance is still lacking. Among various durability attacks, freeze-thaw can induce internal cracking within the cementitious matrix, and weaken the textile-matrix bond.

A framework for hardware trojan detection based on contrastive learning.

Sci Rep

Electronic Engineering College, Heilongjiang University, Harbin, 150080, China.

With the rapid development of the semiconductor industry, Hardware Trojans (HT) as a kind of malicious function that can be implanted at will in all processes of integrated circuit design, manufacturing, and deployment have become a great threat in the field of hardware security. Side-channel analysis is widely used in the detection of HT due to its high efficiency, non-contact nature, and accuracy. In this paper, we propose a framework for HT detection based on contrastive learning using power consumption information in unsupervised or weakly supervised scenarios.

Introducing uniform magnetic order in two-dimensional (2D) topological insulators by constructing heterostructures of TI and magnet is a promising way to realize the high-temperature Quantum Anomalous Hall effect. However, the topological properties of 2D materials are susceptible to several factors that make them difficult to maintain, and whether topological interface states (TISs) can exist at magnetic-topological heterostructure interfaces is largely unknown. Here, it is experimentally shown that TISs in a lateral heterostructure of CrTe/Bi(110) are robust against disorder, defects, high magnetic fields (time-reversal symmetry-breaking perturbations), and elevated temperature (77 K).

It is unclear how pulmonary veins (PVs) maintain paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF). To clarify the PV's arrhythmogenic role, we examined PV activation sequences during paroxysmal AF. Left superior PV (LSPV) endocardial non-contact mapping was performed after a right PV isolation in 13 paroxysmal AF patients.

Brillouin microscopy enables the assessment of the mechanical properties of biological tissues by mapping the Brillouin shift in three-dimensional (3D), all-optical, label-free, non-contact, and subcellular resolution. The virtually imaged phased array (VIPA) etalon is widely utilized for measuring Brillouin spectra owing to its superior light throughput, large angular dispersion, and rapid signal acquisition capabilities. The VIPA-based spectrometer plays a significant role in Brillouin microscopy, but it is highly sensitive to factors such as the tilt angle, beam radius, lens focal length, and so on.
