We investigated the accumulation of persistent organic pollutants in damselfly larvae (Ischnura elegans) in sixteen ponds in Flanders (Belgium), widely differing in the surrounding land use. Concentrations of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), p,p'-dichlorodiphenyldichloroethylene (p,p'-DDE) and hexachlorobenzene (HCB) were measured. From all targeted PBDE-congeners, only three congeners (IUPAC nos. 47, 99, 100) were above the limit of quantification (LOQ). The ∑PBDE concentrations ranged from

Permanganate (Mn(VII)) is a traditional reagent used for water purification, but it is mild to deal with refractory organic contaminants of emerging concern. There is great interest in combination with effective and low-cost biochar to improve reaction kinetics of Mn(VII). Until recently, it still unclear how biomass composition and carbon structure of biochar influence the Mn(VII) oxidation performance.

However, traditional experimental and computational methods have limited scalability and interpretability, hindering effective exploration of MOF structure-property relationships. To address these challenges, we introduce, for the first time, a category-specific topological learning (CSTL), which combines algebraic topology with chemical insights for robust property prediction.

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are persistent organic pollutants and are emitted during e-waste activities. Once they enter into the environment, PCBs could pose toxic effects to environmental compartments and public health. Reductive dechlorination offers a sustainable solution to manage the PCBs-contaminated environment.

Cobalt-based metal-organic framework (MOFs)-derived catalysts are acknowledged for their effectiveness in activating peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for the treatment of persistent pollutants. However, the limited adsorption of PMS on the catalyst surface markedly reduces its degradation efficiency. To overcome this limitation, nanoflower-like EuO/CoO-0.
