A polythiophene thin film was fabricated on gold nanoparticle (AuNP)-deposited indium-tin-oxide (ITO) electrodes with electropolymerization, whereas AuNPs were predeposited on the ITO surface. A photocurrent via photoexcited polythiophene increased with AuNPs which was attributed to the localized surface plasmon resonance. Investigation of the AuNP-density dependence on the relative enhancement of photocurrent revealed the maximum effect at 14% of AuNP-density, while 68% of AuNP-density exhibited smaller photocurrent than the polythiophene electrode without AuNPs. We have revealed that the effects of AuNPs saturate in the fairly low density region, and that the excess AuNPs even in the range of submonolayer resulted in the decrement of photocurrents.

The three SDEs of CLas were expressed in citrus leaves by AuNPs-PEI mediated transient expression system, and promoted the proliferation of CLas and inhibited citrus immunity. Huanglongbing (HLB) is the most severe bacterial disease of citrus caused by Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas). CLas suppress host immune responses and promote infection by sec-dependent effectors (SDEs), thus insight into HLB pathogenesis is urgently needed to develop effective management strategies.

Background: Estriol (E3) is a common estrogen responsible for regulating the female reproductive system, but excessive amount can pose health risks to humans and wild life. Therefore, sensitive and accurate detection of estriol level is crucial. A novel competitive ECL immunosensor based on a dual signal amplification strategy of AuNPs@GO@SmMoSe and Gd(MoO) was fabricated for ultrasensitive detection of estriol.

The rapid, simple, and sensitive detection of nucleic acid biomarkers plays a significant role in clinical diagnosis. Herein, we develop a label-free and point-of-care approach for isothermal DNA detection through the trans-cleavage activity of CRISPR-Cas12 and the growth of gold nanomaterials in agarose gel. The presence of the target can activate CRISPR-Cas12a to cleave single-stranded DNA, thus modulating the length and number of DNA sequences that mediate the growth of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) or gold nanorods (AuNRs).

This study explores the potential for the synthesis of peptide nanosystems comprising spinorphin molecules (with rhodamine moiety: Rh-S, Rh-S5, and Rh-S6) conjugated with nanoparticles (AuNPs), specifically peptide Rh-S@AuNPs, peptide Rh-S5@AuNPs, and peptide Rh-S6@AuNPs, alongside a comparative analysis of the biological activities of free and conjugated peptides. The examination of the microstructural characteristics of the obtained peptide systems and their physicochemical properties constitutes a key focus of this study. Zeta (ζ) potential, Fourier transformation infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, circular dichroism (CD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM-EDS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and UV-Vis spectrophotometry were employed to elucidate the structure-activity correlations of the peptide@nano AuNP systems.

and are challenging to differentiate using methods such as phenotyping, 16S rRNA sequencing, or protein profiling through matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI MS) due to their close relatedness. This study explores the potential for identifying and by incorporating reference spectra of metabolite profiles, obtained via surface-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (SALDI MS) employing gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), into the Bruker Biotyper database. Metabolite extracts from and cells were prepared using liquid-liquid extraction in a chloroform-methanol-water system.
