Studying Rhodococcus erythropolis stress response is of significant scientific interest, since this microorganism is widely used for bioremediation of oil-contaminated sites and is essential for environmental biotechnology. In addition, much less data was published on molecular mechanisms of stress resistance and adaptation to effects of pollutants for Gram-positive oil degraders compared to Gram-negative ones. This study provided an assessment of changes in the transcription level of the soxR, sodA, sodC, oxyR, katE, katG, recA, dinB, sigF, sigH genes in the presence of decane, hexadecane, cyclohexane, benzene, naphthalene, anthracene and diesel fuel.

2-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-L-ascorbic acid (AA-2G), a stable glucoside derivative of L-ascorbic acid (L-AA), can be one-step synthesized by sucrose phosphorylase (SPase). In this study, we attempted to produce extracellular SPase in Bacillus subtilis WB800 for the food-grade production of AA-2G. The results showed that the secretion of SPases did not require signal peptide.

Mycobacterium tuberculosis encounters numerous stress conditions within the host, but how it is able to mount a coupled stress response remains unknown. Growing evidence suggests that under acidic pH, M. tuberculosis modulates redox homeostasis.

Objective: To estimate the efficacy of antidepressants in the treatment of anhedonia in mood disorders (MD) comorbid with alcohol use disorder (AUD), considering melatonin concentration in the patient's blood serum.

Material And Methods: Seventy patients, aged 18-65 years old, with MD, including patients with- (group F3+F10, =36) or without comorbid AUD (group F3, =34), were examined. Control group consisted of 26 healthy volunteers.

Glutaredoxins (Grxs) with Cys-Pro-Phe (Tyr)-Cys motif and a thioredoxin fold structure play an important role in the anti-oxidant system of bacteria by catalyzing a variety of thiol-disulfide exchange reactions with a 2-Cys mechanism or a 1-Cys mechanism. However, the catalytic and physiological mechanism of Corynebacterium glutamicum Mycoredoxin 1 (Mrx1) that shares a high amino acid sequence similarity to Grxs has not been fully elucidated. Here, we report that Mrx1 has a protective function against various adverse conditions, and the decrease of cell viability to various stress conditions by deletion of the Mrx1 in C.
