[Drug interactions in dentistry].

Actual Odontostomatol (Paris)

Faculté de Chirurgie Dentaire, U.F.R. d'Odontologie, Montpellier.

Published: September 1990

The authors describe the various interactions which may exist between the medical treatments followed by patients and various groups of substances used in odonto-stomatology: non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, antifungicides, vasoconstrictors and local anaesthetics. They clarify the clinical risk relating to each of these medicament interactions.

TREM2 is a signaling receptor expressed on microglia that has emerged as an important drug target for Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. While a number of TREM2 ligands have been identified, little is known regarding the structural details of how they engage. To better understand this, we created a protein library of 28 different TREM2 variants that could be used to map interactions with various ligands using biolayer interferometry.

Metals have been used throughout history to manage disease. With the rising incidence of antibiotic-resistant bacterial strains, metal-based antimicrobials (MBAs) have re-emerged as an alternative to combat infections. Gallium nitrate has shown promising efficacy against several pathogens.

A well-balanced ion channel trafficking machinery is paramount for the normal electromechanical function of the heart. Ion channel variants and many drugs can alter the cardiac action potential and lead to arrhythmias by interfering with mechanisms like ion channel synthesis, trafficking, gating, permeation, and recycling. A case in point is the Long QT syndrome (LQTS), a highly arrhythmogenic disease characterized by an abnormally prolonged QT interval on ECG produced by variants and drugs that interfere with the action potential.

College of Pharmacy, Chung-Ang University, 84 Heukseok-ro, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, 06974, Republic of Korea. Electronic address:

Background: The simplicity of synthesis methods has facilitated the illegal manufacture of various fentanyl analogs, leading to numerous fatal overdoses worldwide, particularly in North America. Fentanyl analogs with similar structures are difficult to distinguish due to their fragmentation patterns, making separation using chromatography essential. Additionally, because fentanyl analogs are lethal even in trace amounts, they are easily smuggled, and commonly used fentanyl test strips often fail to detect them due to their low sensitivity.
