qnr, aac(6')-Ib-cr, qepA, and oqxAB genes were detected in 5.7%, 4.9%, 2.6%, and 20.2% of 1,022 Escherichia coli isolates from humans, animals, and the environment, respectively, collected between 1993 and 2010 in China. The prevalence of oqxAB in porcine isolates (51.0%) was significantly higher than that in other isolates. This is the first report of oqxAB-positive isolates from ducks and geese and as early as 1994 from chickens.

is a leading cause of healthcare-associated infections, which are related to substantial morbidity and mortality. The incidence of Plasmid-Mediated Quinolone Resistance (PMQR) determinants has been previously reported in this bacterium. However, there is limited information regarding the presence of PMQR and carbapenemase-encoding genes simultaneously.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) as a result of antimicrobial overuse and misuse in agriculture is a growing concern, especially in the predominant but poorly regulated backyard or smallholder swine farms of the Philippines. A city-scale surveillance of antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs) was conducted through selected backyard swine farms to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the AMR situation in the backyard sector of Davao City, Philippines. The ARGs encoding resistance to four antimicrobial classes (β-lactams: bla, bla, bla, bla, mecA; quinolones: qnrS and qnr-A2; macrolides: ermA and ermB; tetracycline: tetM) were quantified in swine feces via real-time PCR, and point maps were generated to visualize the ARG geographic distribution.

Slaughterhouse wastewater represents important convergence and concentration points for antimicrobial residues, bacteria, and antibiotic resistance genes (ARG), which can promote antimicrobial resistance propagation in different environmental compartments. This study reports the assessment of the metaplasmidome-associated resistome in poultry slaughterhouse wastewater treated by biological processes, employing metagenomic sequencing. Antimicrobial residues from a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) that treats poultry slaughterhouse influents and effluents were investigated through high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS).

Plasmid-mediated antibiotic-resistant bacteria's transmission is fatal and a major threat to public health. This study aimed to clarify the presence of plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance(PMQR)genes in extended-spectrum β-lactamase(ESBL)-producing or/and mcr-harbouring colistin(COL)-resistant Escherichia coli(ESBL-COL-EC)isolates from Vietnamese and Japanese chicken meat. Resistance towards ciprofloxacin(CIP)was examined in 308 ESBL-COL-EC isolates; CIP-resistant ESBL-COL-EC isolates were examined for the PMQR gene.
