The relative abundance of micromonosporas in the bacterial communities inhabiting cellulose baits, water columns, and sediments of two freshwater lakes was determined by quantitative PCR (qPCR) of reverse-transcribed 16S rRNA. Micromonospora spp. were shown to be significant members of the active bacterial population colonizing cellulosic substrates in the lake sediment, and their increased prevalence with greater depth was confirmed by enumeration of CFU.

Microorganisms inhabiting hostile Arctic environments express a variety of functional phenotypes, some of clinical interest, such as haemolytic ability and antimicrobial resistance. We studied haemolytic bacterial isolates from Arctic habitats, assessing their minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) against antimicrobials. We then performed whole genome sequencing and analysed them for features conferring antimicrobial resistance.

The rising demand for innovative antimicrobial solutions has shifted focus towards silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), especially those produced through eco-friendly methods. This study introduces a novel approach utilizing actinomycetes strains-Streptomyces albus, Micromonospora maris, and Arthrobacter crystallopoietes-to biosynthesize AgNPs with remarkable antibacterial properties. Through molecular characterization, we identified unique features of these nanoparticles, and computational modeling suggested significant ion-ligand interactions with proteins 6REV and 3K07.

Soda lakes are naturally occurring ecosystems characterized by extreme environmental conditions especially high pH and salinity levels but harboring valuable microbial communities with medical and biotechnological potentials. Lake Natron is one of the soda lakes situated in eastern branch of the East African Gregory Rift valley, Tanzania. In this study, the taxonomy and phylogenetic diversity of Actinomycetota species were explored in Lake Natron using molecular techniques.

spp. are ancient tree species that have survived from the Quaternary glacier period, and their metabolites, such as taxol, have been used as anticancer drugs globally. Plant-endophytic microbial interaction plays a crucial role in exerting a profound impact on host growth and secondary metabolite synthesis.
