Chromophore-peptide systems: a study on a series of pentapeptides covalently connected to planar π systems (1 a and 1 b) or to a curved π system (1 c) showed the influence of the concave shape on the efficient chiral transmission at nano- and mesoscales. Control over the hierarchical growth by H bonding, π-π, and solvophobic interactions made possible the efficient generation of electroactive 3D helical fibers.

The pigments present in the fibers of naturally colored cotton provide excellent antibacterial and environmentally friendly properties, making these colored fibers increasingly favored by the textile industry and consumers. Proanthocyanidins (PAs), the critical pigments responsible for the color of brown cotton fiber, are produced on the endoplasmic reticulum and subsequently transported to the vacuole for polymerization and/or storage. Previous studies have identified GhTT12 as a potential transmembrane transporter of PAs in Gossypium hirsutum, with GhTT12 being a homolog of Arabidopsis Transparent Testa 12 (TT12).

Fiber-based strain sensors, as wearable integrated devices, have shown substantial promise in health monitoring. However, current sensors suffer from limited tunability in sensing performance, constraining their adaptability to diverse human motions. Drawing inspiration from the structure of the spiranthes sinensis, this study introduces a unique textile wrapping technique to coil flexible silver (Ag) yarn around the surface of multifilament elastic polyurethane (PU), thereby constructing a helical structure fiber-based strain sensor.

Objective: This study aimed to identify structural changes in age-related curved hair (referred to as "YUGAMI" hair in Japanese) induced by cyclical extension using infrared (IR) spectroscopy coupled with chemometrics, such as multivariate curve resolution (MCR) and two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy (2DCOS).

Methods: The hair fibres were stretched at a strain level of 0.3-N, and this operation was counted as one cycle and was repeated 500 cycles.

Secondary nucleation is an emerging approach for synthesizing higher-order supramolecular polymers with exciting topologies. However, a detailed understanding of growth processes and the synthesis of homochiral superstructures is yet to be demonstrated. Here, we report the non-covalent synthesis of dendritic homochiral superstructures using NIR triimide dyes as building blocks via a secondary nucleation elongation process.

Real-time monitoring of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) in skeletal muscle provides crucial insights into the cause-and-effect relationships between physical activity and health benefits. However, the dynamic production of exercise-induced RONS remains poorly explored, due to the lack of sensing tools that can conform to soft skeletal muscle while monitor RONS release during exercise. Here we introduce dual flexible sensors via twisting carbon nanotubes into helical bundles of fibers and subsequent assembling electrochemical sensing components.
