An investigation was conducted retrospectively for echinococcosis (hydatid disease) in Yixing City from 2008 to 2009, the serum or fecal samples of suspected patients during the past 5 years and host animals were assessed by ELISA. There were 2 cases reported by network and 4 confirmed patients by investigation, and among the total 6 cases, 5 cases may be infected in the locality. The positive rates were 0.52%, 0.14% and 1.08% in adults aged over 20 years, children aged 7 to 12 years (by serum tests) and dogs (by fecal tests) respectively.

Revealing the characteristics of vegetation coverage change and the effects of topography on vegetation coverage change in rural areas since the reform and opening up has direct implications for further understanding of human-land coupling processes and resource and environmental changes and provides a reference for ecological environment protection in rural revitalization. Using the Taihua Town in Yixing City, Jiangsu Province, as a rural case study, we revealed the basic features of rural vegetation coverage change from 1986 to 2020. Furthermore, using 0.

The digestibility of starch in staple foods has rarely been examined at the bio-macromolecular level. This study addresses this by investigating the fine structures of amylose and amylopectin to understand their roles in starch digestibility in cooked white rice. Using the static INFOGEST protocol and oral processing by human volunteers, we assessed the starch digestion characteristics of 13 rice varieties, with amylose and amylopectin chain length distribution being analyzed using size-exclusion chromatography and high-performance anion exchange chromatography, respectively.

Bisphenol S (BPS) derivatives have potential reproductive developmental toxicity and have been found in the environment and in breast milk. The level of infant exposure and the source are currently unknown. In this study, we investigated BPS and six derivatives (together referred to as BPs) in urine samples from mothers and infants, indoor dust, breast milk and infant formula in Beijing, China.

Platelet-derived growth factors (PDGFs) and receptors (PDGFR) play a key role in the process of coronary atherosclerosis. We aimed to investigate the association of genetic variations and mRNA expressions of PDGF/PDGFRB pathway genes with coronary artery disease (CAD). In this case-control study (3139 CAD vs.

To evaluate the efficacy of yellow light-emitting diode (LED) irradiation at 590 nm, alone or in combination with anti-inflammatory active substances against ultraviolet (UV)-induced inflammation in keratinocytes. HaCaT keratinocytes were pretreated with LED yellow light (590 nm) alone or in combination with an antiinflammatory active substance such as glycerophosphoinositol choline (GC), extract of grains of paradise (Aframomum melegueta Schum, AM), or a bisabolol and ginger root extract mixture (Bb-GE) before UVB irradiation. Following each treatment, we measured the levels of inflammatory mediators secreted by keratinocytes.
