The fungal-specific heterodecameric outer kinetochore DASH complex facilitates the interaction of kinetochores with spindle microtubules. In budding yeast, where kinetochores bind a single microtubule, the DASH complex is essential, and phosphorylation of Dam1 by the Aurora kinase homologue, Ipl1, causes detachment of kinetochores from spindle microtubules. We demonstrate that in the distantly related fission yeast, where the DASH complex is not essential for viability and kinetochores bind multiple microtubules, Dam1 is instead phosphorylated on serine 143 by the Polo kinase homologue, Plo1, during prometaphase and metaphase. This phosphorylation site is conserved in most fungal Dam1 proteins, including budding yeast Dam1. We show that Dam1 phosphorylation by Plo1 is dispensable for DASH assembly and chromosome retrieval but instead aids tension-dependent chromosome bi-orientation.

Introduction: The peripheral radioulnar articulation and the bony radioulnar articulation make up the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ), a diarthrodial trochoid synovial joint stabilizers for soft tissues. Of the DRUJ's stability, only around 20% may be attributed to the bony articulation. Treatment for DRUJ injuries resulting from a solely ligamentous rupture varies and is subject to debate.

The reaction chemistry of an unprecedented 'inorganic cumulene' - featuring a five-atom BNBNB chain - towards C[double bond, length as m-dash]O (and related) multiple bonds is disclosed. In marked contrast to related all-carbon systems, the intrinsic polarity of the BNBNB chain (featuring electron-rich nitrogen and electron-deficient boron centres) enables metathesis chemistry with electrophilic heteroallenes such as CO and with organic carbonyl compounds. Transfer of the borylimide unit to [CO], [CS], [PP{(NDippCH)}] and [C(H)Ph] moieties generates (boryl)N[double bond, length as m-dash]C[double bond, length as m-dash]X systems (X = O, S, PP{(NDippCH)}, C(H)Ph), driven thermodynamically by B-O bond formation.

The first carbocyclic gallylene [(ADC)Ga(GaI)] and bis-gallylene [(ADC)Ga] (ADC = PhC{N(Dipp)C}; Dipp = 2,6-iPrCH) featuring a central CGa ring annulated between two 1,3-imidazole rings are prepared by KC reductions of [(ADC)GaI]. Treatment of [(ADC)Ga] with Fe(CO) affords complex [(ADC)GaFe(CO)] in which each Ga(i) atom serves as a two-electron donor. [(ADC)Ga] activates white phosphorus (P) and the C -F bond of aryl fluorides (ArF) to yield compounds [(ADC)Ga(P)] and -/-[(ADC)GaF(Ar)], respectively.

Objective: To evaluate the repeatability of AI-based automatic measurement of vertebral and cardiovascular markers on low-dose chest CT.
Methods: We included participants of the population-based Imaging in Lifelines (ImaLife) study with low-dose chest CT at baseline and 3-4 month follow-up. An AI system (AI-Rad Companion chest CT prototype) performed automatic segmentation and quantification of vertebral height and density, aortic diameters, heart volume (cardiac chambers plus pericardial fat), and coronary artery calcium volume (CACV).
