Background: Patients with severe ptosis caused by poor or absent function of the levator muscle but with good frontalis muscle excursion usually benefit from a frontalis sling procedure. This is currently carried out using organic or inorganic material to connect the upper eyelid to the frontalis muscle.
Methods: The aim of this study was to evaluate retrospectively 112 patients who underwent frontalis sling procedures between 1989 and 2011 using a preformed silicone implant suspensor to correct severe ptosis.
Results: The results obtained using this technique were good or fair in 95.54 percent of the cases and poor in 4.46 percent of the cases. The authors discuss the results of the study and the cases in which the procedure should be indicated and highlight the advantages of the method.
Conclusion: The availability of this low-cost sterile device, together with the fact that it is ready to use, requires less invasive surgery, saves time, and is sufficiently versatile to allow adjustments to be made at any time, makes the silicone eyelid sling an attractive choice for correcting ptosis.

Keratoconus is a condition that causes progressive thinning and anterior protrusion of the cornea. Because of its irregular astigmatism, mild to moderate keratoconus is corrected with hard contact lenses (HCLs), but blepharoptosis due to the long-term wearing of HCLs is often a problem. In this study, we investigated blepharoptosis in HCL wearers with keratoconus.

With a prevalence of 2-3% in the general population, mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is the most common valvular heart disease. The clinical course is benign in the majority of patients, although severe mitral regurgitation, heart failure, and sudden cardiac death affect a non-negligible subset of patients. Imaging of MVP was confined to echocardiography until a few years ago when it became apparent that cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) could offer comparative advantages for detecting and quantifying mitral valve abnormalities alongside tissue myocardial characterization.

Ptosis is defined as an abnormally low-lying upper eyelid margin on the primary gaze, generally resulting from a congenital or acquired abnormality of the nerves or muscles that control the eyelid. Ptosis can occur alone or concurrently as an ocular or systemic syndrome, and the prevalence of ptosis varies among different countries and populations. Isolated ptosis typically causes aesthetic problems in patients and can lead to functional ophthalmic problems in severe cases.

Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) is a malignancy of the lymphocytes in the lymph nodes and presents with non-specific systemic symptoms like fever, night sweats, and weight loss. While HL often involves the mediastinum, it rarely causes superior vena cava (SVC) syndrome, and eosinophilia is noted in approximately 15% of cases. Here, we report a unique presentation of HL in a 52-year-old male with a history of chronic pruritus, chronic kidney disease, and inactive hepatitis B.

Objective: This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)-guided coronary intravascular lithotripsy and rotational atherectomy in treating severe coronary artery calcification.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of 60 patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention at the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University from October 2022 to August 2023 was conducted. The patients were divided into two groups: 30 received IVUS-guided coronary intravascular lithotripsy and 30 underwent IVUS-guided rotational atherectomy.
