Intraosseous blade vent implants extend hitherto existing clinical methods of prosthetic treatment of some conditions of defective teeth by new possibilities. It is a method which can produce satisfactory and long-term results. One of the prerequisites is, however, that generally valid and local limitations for indication of the implantation will be respected, that the implantation will be implemented by reliable surgical technique along with high standard prosthetic treatment which in the course of recovery will carry the implant to its functional period. Results of our investigations revealed unequivocally that the use of implants with a low or predominantly low intraosseous part leads in the majority to unsatisfactory results of implantations.

Introduction: Total hip arthroplasty (THA) in the setting of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) presents more inherent complexities than routine primary THA for osteoarthritis. These include acetabular bone deficiency, limb length discrepancy (LLD), and abnormal femoral anteversion. Three-dimensional planning and robot-assisted (RA) bone preparation may simplify these complex procedures and make them more reproducible.

Broken Knife Blade Completely Penetrating the Humerus: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Bull Emerg Trauma

July 2020

Tecnologico de Monterrey, Escuela de Medicina y Ciencias de la Salud, Dr. Ignacio Morones Prieto O 3000 . Monterrey, México. 64710.

We present a case of a 23-year-old male patient who presented with a blade knife completely wedged and penetrated on his humerus after a stab wound to his left upper extremity. On palpation, a foreign body was palpated under the skin on the deltoid area. The blade was stuck in the bone, so the surrounding bone tissue was osteotomised until the blade was released.

This article is a collection of intraoperative techniques performed by a single hand surgeon with literature support for these techniques for the purpose of circumventing potential limitations intraoperatively. These techniques include the use of a Beaver Blade handle (Beaver, Beaver-Visitec, Waltham, MA, US) to be used as a rasp to smooth intraosseous tunnels during tendon transfers, a Stryker (Stryker, Stryker Corporation, Kalamazoo, MI, US) or Synthes (Deputy Synthes, Johnson & Johnson, West Palm Beach, FL, US) drill as a motorized file for plate deburring, and Insorb forceps (Insorb, Incisive Surgical, Plymouth, MN, US) for skin closure. These tips serve as methods to minimize scarring and circumvent unfortunate obstacles, such as tendon rupture, and the consequential weakened repair that can occur post-operatively.

Background: Osteotomy for hallux valgus interrupts intraosseous blood supply to the first metatarsal, presumably causing non-union, delayed union, or osteonecrosis of the head of the first metatarsal. We investigated the first metatarsal nutrient artery, arising from the first dorsal metatarsal artery, and identified aspects of surgical technique contributing to nutrient artery injury.

Methods: Enhanced computed tomography scans of 8 feet of 8 fresh cadavers were assessed.

Solitary plasmacytoma is an infrequent form of plasma cell dyscrasia that presents as a single mass of monoclonal plasma cells, located either extramedullary or intraosseous. In some patients, a bone marrow aspiration can detect a low monoclonal plasma cell infiltration which indicates a high risk of early progression to an overt myeloma disease. Before treatment initiation, whole body positron emission tomography-computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging should be performed to exclude the presence of additional malignant lesions.
