In this case report, a 19-year-old male patient with maxillary transverse deficiency, concave profile, and facial asymmetry is presented. In the case of transversal insufficiency, nonsurgical maxillary expansion was performed with the miniscrew-assisted rapid palatal expansion (MARPE) appliance to reduce the number of surgeries and provide both dentoalveolar and skeletal expansion. The periodontal soundness and short-term stability of the maxillary expansion were confirmed both clinically and radiologically.

Background: The placement of Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs) in the mandibular buccal shelf area is a common option for distalizing the lower arch. Therefore, the study of bone thickness and depth in this area is mandatory before planning TAD insertion. The aim of this study was to quantify the width and depth of the mandibular buccal shelf structure and examine its associations with sex, age, skeletal class and vertical pattern.

Introduction: Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a severe X-linked disorder characterized by progressive muscle weakness and eventual death due to cardiomyopathy or respiratory complications. Currently, there is no cure for DMD, with standard treatments primarily focusing on symptom management. Using immunosuppressive measures and optimized vector designs allow for gene therapies to better address the underlying genetic cause of the disease.

Lithium metal batteries (LMBs) promise high-energy-density storage but face safety issues due to dendrite-induced lithium deposition, irreversible electrolyte consumption, and large volume changes, which hinder their practical applications. To address these issues, tuning lithium deposition by structuring a host for the lithium metal anode has been recognized as an efficient method. Herein, we report a supercritical water molecular scissor-controlled strategy to form a carbon framework derived from biomass wood.
