The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Zn(NCS)(C(12)H(7)ClN(2))(2)][Zn(NCS)(3)(C(12)H(7)ClN(2))], contains two cations and two anions. In the cations, the Zn(II) ions have distorted trigonal-bipyramidal environments formed by four N atoms from two 2-chloro-1,10-phenanthroline (cphen) ligands and one N atom from a thio-cyanate ligand. The Zn(II) atoms in the complex anions also have distorted trigonal-bipyramidal environments, formed by two N atoms from a cphen ligand and three N atoms from three thio-cyanato ligands. The crystal packing exhibits π-π inter-actions between the rings of the cphen ligands [shortest centroid-centroid distance = 3.586 (5) Å] and short inter-molecular S⋯Cl [3.395 (5) Å] and S⋯S [3.440 (4) Å] contacts.

The title compound, [Zn(CHClNO)Cl], is a dinuclear zinc(II) complex with three chlorido ligands and one penta-dentate ligand containing quinolin-8-olato and bis-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amine groups. One of the two Zn atom adopts a tetra-hedral geometry and coordinates two chlorido ligands with chelate coord-ination of the N and O atoms of the quinolin-8-olato group in the ligand. The other Zn atom adopts a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry, and coordinates one chlorido-O atom of the quinolin-8-olato group and three N atoms of the bis-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amine unit.

Five metal dithiocarbamate complexes [M(PTHIQDTC)] [where PTHIQDTC is (S)-1-phenyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline dithiocarbamate anion and M is Ni(II) (1), Sn(II) (2), Hg(II) (3), Pb(II) (4) and Zn(II) (5)] were synthesized from the reaction of MX (X is Cl for 1-3 and OAc for 4-5) with ligand of triethylammonium (S)-1-phenyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline dithiocarbamate [EtNH][PTHIQDTC] in methanolic solution at room temperature. The five complexes were characterized by IR, H andC NMR, mass spectrometry, elemental analysis and TGA analysis. Recrystallization of [Zn(PTHIQDTC)] (5) in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) converts 5 to [Zn(PTHIQDTC)(DMSO)] (6).

The current study aimed to synthesize seven new metal coordination complexes (Q1-Q7) with potential biomedical applications. Novel mononuclear, polynuclear and mixed-ligand coordination compounds of the elements, cadmium(ii) and silver(i) derived from a pyridine containing ligand (2,4,6-tris-(2-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine ()) have been synthesized successfully with the general formulae [Cd()Cl]·HO and [Ag () (L)(ClO)](ClO) ( = 1,2,3, = 1,2,3, L = PPh or phen, = 1,2). The structural features were fully characterized using various spectroscopic techniques, such as infrared, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, 1D and 2D-NMR (H, C, P, H-H COSY and H-C HSQCAD), CHN analysis, molar conductance (), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and powder X-ray diffraction analysis.

The title compound, [Cd(CHNS)Cl] or [CdCl] (), where = 2-[bis-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amino]-ethane-1-thiol, was prepared and structurally characterized. The Cd complex crystallizes in 2/ with a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal metal coordination geometry. Supra-molecular inter-actions in include parallel offset face-to-face inter-actions between inversion-related pyridyl rings and potential hydrogen bonds with chlorine or sulfur as the acceptor.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on synthesizing various bis-amidinate indium(III) monochlorides by reacting specific Li-amidinate ligands with InCl.
  • Single crystal X-ray analysis shows that these compounds feature an In(III) center coordinated with two amidinate ligands, creating a distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry.
  • The photophysical properties of these compounds were examined, revealing that they are emissive in solution, with the 9-anthryl compound achieving a quantum yield of 45.5% and a lifetime of 11 ns in dichloromethane.
