Background: Most atopic dermatitis (AD) patients have elevated serum immunoglobulin E (IgE). Impaired folic acid (FA) metabolism was found to reduce the intracellular methyl donor pool, associated with a higher prevalence of atopy.
Aim: To assess serum IgE and FA in AD patients and to correlate their levels with the disease severity, and with each other.
Materials And Methods: Twenty patients with AD were assessed for serum FA and IgE, compared with 20 age- and sex-matched controls. Patients were classified into three groups (mild, moderate, and severe AD) based on clinical severity according to Nottingham index. In both patients and controls, serum IgE was measured using Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay technique and serum FA was measured using Microparticle Enzyme Immunoassay technique.
Results: Serum FA levels were lower in AD patients compared with controls, but the difference was not statistically significant. FA levels did not show statistically significant difference among disease severity groups and did not correlate with serum IgE levels. On the other hand, serum IgE levels were significantly elevated in AD patients compared with controls, and among AD patients, its levels were significantly elevated in severe AD compared with mild and moderate disease.
Conclusion: Serum IgE is useful in assessment of AD severity and activity. FA contribution to AD needs further investigations.

Objectives: To identify the risk factors for postoperative relapse of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) using multivariate Logistic regression analysis and to explore potential improvements in clinical treatment measures.
Methods: We selected 270 CRSwNP patients who underwent surgery at The First People's Hospital of Jiangxia District between January 2022 and July 2024. The patients were divided into two groups based on the presence or absence of postoperative relapse: 40 cases with relapse were designated as the relapse group, and the other 230 cases without relapse were designated as the non-relapse group.

Bullous pemphigoid (BP) is an acquired autoimmune bullous disease that often occurs in elderly patients. Some BP patients with early age of disease onset were observed to have difficulty in receiving applicable disease control. It remains challenging for clinicians to choose the appropriate treatment for these patients.

Objectives: Atopic skin plays a significant etiological role in the development of prurigo nodularis (PN). In addition to atopic dermatitis (AD), atopic skin diathesis without eczema can also contribute to the development of PN due to its association with itching. This study aims to evaluate PN in terms of AD/atopic skin diathesis, associated comorbidities, and clinical findings.

Purpose: Fractional nasal exhaled NO (FnNO), fractional exhaled NO (FeNO) and lung function tests were performed in children with moderate-to-severe persistent allergic rhinitis (AR) to investigate the significance of the above indices in the assessment and diagnosis of children with AR.
Methods: A total of 135 children with persistent AR were selected and divided into moderate-to-severe and mild groups; serum total immunoglobulin E (IgE), peripheral blood eosinophil counts (EOS), FnNO, FeNO, and lung function tests were performed.
Results: Children in the moderate-to-severe group had increased levels of FnNO and FeNO and decreased levels of forced expiratory flow at 75% of forced vital capacity as a percentage of the predicted value (FEF75%) and maximum mid-term expiratory flow as a percentage of the predicted value (MMEF%) .
