In this paper we address the "skull-stripping" problem in 3D MR images. We propose a new method that employs an efficient and unique histogram analysis. A fundamental component of this analysis is an algorithm for partitioning a histogram based on the position of the maximum deviation from a Gaussian fit. In our experiments we use a comprehensive image database, including both synthetic and real MRI, and compare our method with other two well-known methods, namely BSE and BET. For all datasets we achieved superior results. Our method is also highly independent of parameter tuning and very robust across considerable variations of noise ratio.

In this work, we explored the potential of the spot test combined with image analysis using smartphones as a rapid, simple, low-cost, and environmentally friendly method for identifying methadone concentration. Herein, a carbon-gold nanocomposite has been used to generate color variation at different concentrations of methadone. The data obtained from the digital image colorimetric method was compared with those from the UV-Vis spectroscopy as a standard technique.

Purpose: To retrain a model based on a previously identified prognostic imaging biomarker using apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values from diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DW-MRI) in a preclinical setting and validate the model using clinical DW-MRI data of patients with locally advanced head-and-neck cancer (HNC) acquired before radiochemotherapy.
Material And Methods: A total of 31 HNC patients underwent T2-weighted and DW-MRI using 3 T MRI before radiochemotherapy (35x2Gy). Gross tumor volumes (GTV) were delineated based on T2-weighted and b500 images.

This study is the application of a recurrent neural networks with Bayesian regularization optimizer (RNNs-BRO) to analyze the effect of various physical parameters on fluid velocity, temperature, and mass concentration profiles in the Darcy-Forchheimer flow of propylene glycol mixed with carbon nanotubes model across a stretched cylinder. This model has significant applications in thermal systems such as in heat exchangers, chemical processing, and medical cooling devices. The data-set of the proposed model has been generated with variation of various parameters such as, curvature parameter, inertia coefficient, Hartmann number, porosity parameter, Eckert number, Prandtl number, radiation parameter, activation energy variable, Schmidt number and reaction rate parameter for different scenarios.

Objective: The production of 3-dimensional models and materials according to preoperative virtual surgical planning is a time-consuming process and causes high costs. We aimed to demonstrate the navigation mediated reconstruction of the patients who underwent the removal of a tumoral mass in midfacial region according to their preoperatively prepared surgical plannings.
Study Design: Patients who underwent the removal of tumoral mass and reconstruction in their midfacial region were included in the study.

Purpose: Long axial field-of-view (LAFOV) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scanners enable high sensitivity and wide anatomical coverage. Therefore, they seem ideal to perform post-selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT) Y scans, which are needed, to confirm that the dose is delivered to the tumors and that healthy organs are spared. However, it is unclear to what extent the use of LAFOV PET is feasible and which dosimetry approaches results in accurate measurements.
