Because different PICUs may have unique needs, barriers, and limitations to accurately report fluid balance (FB) and reduce FO, understanding the drivers of positive FB is needed. We hypothesize CFB >5% and >10% is common within initial days of PICU admission, but that reasons for high %CFB will vary across sites, as will barriers to accurate FB recording and opportunities to improve FB recording and management.

Purpose: Among patients with angle-closure glaucoma, it is common to have a short-axial eye, which also makes it difficult to select an appropriate intraocular lens. Previous studies have focused on the ocular biometry of the long-axial eye, whereas only a few reports have focused on the short-axial eye. This study aimed to clarify the characteristics of the short-axial eye on ocular biometry among the elderly Japanese.

Purpose The infrapatellar fat pad (IFP) has the lowest pain threshold among all knee joint components and causes anterior knee pain after knee arthroplasty. It has been reported that selective muscle atrophy of the vastus medialis (VM) and fibrosis of the IFP may develop following knee joint surgery. Ultrasound enables visualization of IFP deformation (A1) from within the joint to the proximal area in response to muscle contraction, and this may be helpful in developing preventive and therapeutic strategies for IFP fibrosis.
