We aim to present a very rare case of chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency due to both brachiocephalic vein obstruction by aberrant right subclavian artery and internal jugular vein distal compression by first cervical vertebra transverse process, demonstrated by multislice computerized tomography in a patient with multiple sclerosis.

Epilepsy (EP) is a neurological disorder characterized by abnormal, sudden neuronal discharges. Seizures increase extracellular glutamate levels, causing excitotoxic damage. Glutamate transporter type 1 (GLT-1) and its human homologue excitatory amino acid transporter-2 (EAAT2) clear 95% of extracellular glutamate.

Objective: To confirm the incidence of subcutaneous effusion secondary to cerebrospinal fluid leakage after craniotomy, analyze the risk factors for cerebrospinal fluid leakage leading to subcutaneous effusion, summarize the underlying causes of its occurrence and explore the corresponding treatment strategies.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 757 patients who underwent craniotomy at our hospital from January to December 2023. The authors documented the sex, age, surgical characteristics, and history of chronic diseases for all patients, including those who developed subcutaneous effusion secondary to cerebrospinal fluid leakage.

Alzheimers Dement

Univ of PA TRL Room 2115, philadelphia, PA, USA.

Epidemiologic studies have revealed a relationship between chronic persistent short sleep and the risk of dementia, yet whether short sleep is an early symptom of dementia or a contributor to dementia in humans has not been resolved. A rapidly growing body of research in animal models, however, strongly supports the concept that chronic disruption of sleep can impart significant injury in the brain consistent with some of the important pathology evident in Alzheimer's disease (AD), the most common form of age-related dementia. Transgenic models of AD pathology develop an increased density of amyloid plaques in response to chronic sleep loss, and this response is independent of significant stress.
