The proliferation of portable communication and entertainment devices has introduced new dangers to the driving environment, particularly for young and inexperienced drivers. Graduate students from George Mason University illustrate a powerful, practical, and cost-effective program that has been successful in educating these drivers on the dangers of texting while driving, which can easily be adapted and implemented in other communities.

Tidal interactions play a key role in the dynamics and evolution of icy worlds. The intense tectonic activity of Europa and the eruption activity on Enceladus are clear examples of the manifestation of tidal deformation and associated dissipation. While tidal heating has long been recognized as a major driver in the activity of these icy worlds, the mechanism controlling how tidal forces deform the different internal layers and produce heat by tidal friction still remains poorly constrained.

Purpose: Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) increases the risk of road traffic injuries through various mechanisms including higher risky driving behaviors. Therefore, drivers with ADHD are shown to be more prone to road traffic injuries. This study was conducted in a community-based sample of drivers to determine how ADHD affects driving behavior components.

The C3PO collaborative, with a history of successful quality improvement (QI) initiatives, leveraged registry participants to develop a multi-center QI initiative to reduce adverse events (AEs) in congenital cardiac catheterization. A 32-person, interdisciplinary working group analyzed audited data for all congenital cardiac catheterization cases from 2014-2017. The primary outcome was the occurrence of any high-severity (level 3/4/5) AE.

Objective: Attention forms the foundation for the formation of situation awareness. Low situation awareness can lead to driving performance decline, which can be dangerous in driving. The goal of this study is to investigate how different types of pre-takeover tasks, involving cognitive, visual and physical resources engagement, as well as individual attentional function, affect driver's attention restoration in conditionally automated driving.

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are the key drivers of tumorigenesis and relapse. A growing body of evidence reveals the tremendous power of CSCs to directly resist innate and adaptive anti-tumor immune responses. The immunomodulatory property gives CSCs the ability to control the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME).
