This study presents our experience with 34 HEMA disc intraocular lenses implanted in the capsular bag. Despite the small number of cases and the relatively short mean postoperative follow-up of nine months, the results show a low incidence of uveitis and capsular fibrosis and excellent biocompatibility. The following complications were observed: four luxations of the 8 mm lens and one of the 9 mm lens in the anterior chamber. A visual acuity of 20/20 to 20/40 was obtained in 32 patients (94%).

Background Local antibiotic applications have been used in chronic osteomyelitis and have been defined as an adjunctive treatment method. Biodegradable materials are also used for the same purpose by adding antibiotics. The fact that it does not require additional surgery to be removed is an important advantage.

The aim was to evaluate the effects of adding different functional monomers to experimental self-adhesive composites (SACs) on polymerization kinetics, cell metabolic activity, and sealing ability. SACs were formulated using urethane dimethacrylate as the base monomer and triethylene glycol dimethacrylate. Additionally, 10 wt.

Background Context: Cervical disc replacement (CDR) aims to restore motion of the treated level to reduce the risk of adjacent segment disease (ASD) compared with spinal fusion. However, first-generation articulating devices are unable to mimic the complex deformation kinematics of a natural disc. Thus, a biomimetic artificial intervertebral CDR (bioAID), containing a hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA)-sodium methacrylate (NaMA) hydrogel core representing the nucleus pulposus, an ultra-high-molecular-weight-polyethylene fiber jacket as annulus fibrosus, and titanium endplates with pins for primary mechanical fixation, was developed.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the morphological differences in the articular disc (AD) between hemophilic patients and healthy individuals of the control group for further association with signs and symptoms.

Methods: Fourteen severe hemophilic patients had their AD evaluated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The morphological findings were compared to those of a control group consisting of 14 healthy individuals.

Analysis of Monomer Release from Different Composite Resins after Bleaching by HPLC.

Life (Basel)

October 2022

Department of Restorative Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, Necmettin Erbakan University, Yaka Mah, Bağlarbaşı Sok, No.4, 42090 Meram, Konya, Turkey.

(1) Background: This study aimed to examine the effect of bleaching agents on the release of triethylenae glycol dimethacrylate, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, bisphenol A, urethane dimethacrylate, and bisphenol A-glycidyl methacrylate monomers, which are released from different composite resins, using the high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method. (2) Methods: Ninety disc-shaped specimens were produced and immersed in artificial saliva. After different bleaching applications [office type bleaching (OB) and home type bleaching (HB)], the specimens were immersed in a 75 wt% ethanol/water solution, and the released monomers were analyzed by HPLC at predefined time intervals: 1, 7, and 28 days.
