Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease that is significantly characterized by cognitive and memory impairments, which worsen significantly with age. In the late stages of AD, metal ion disorders and an imbalance of reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels occur in the brain microenvironment, which causes abnormal aggregation of β-amyloid (Aβ), leading to a significant worsening of the AD symptoms. Therefore, we designed a composite nanomaterial of macrophage membranes-encapsulated Prussian blue nanoparticles (PB NPs/MM).

Dopamine (DA) in the striatum is vital for motor and cognitive behaviors. Midbrain dopaminergic neurons generate both tonic and phasic action potential (AP) firing patterns in behavior mice. Besides AP numbers, whether and how different AP firing patterns per se modulate DA release remain largely unknown.

The remyelination process within the diabetes mellitus (DM) brain is inhibited, and dynamic interactions between DNA methylation and transcription factors are critical for this process. Repressor element-1 silencing transcription factor (REST) is a major regulator of oligodendrocyte differentiation, and the role of REST on DM remyelination remains to be investigated. Here, we investigated the effects of REST and DNA methylation on DM remyelination and explored the underlying mechanisms.

Objective: To assess the interrelationship between cortical lesions and cortical thinning and volume loss in people with multiple sclerosis within cortical networks, and how this relates to future cognition.
Methods: In this longitudinal study, 230 people with multiple sclerosis and 60 healthy controls underwent 3 Tesla MRI at baseline and neuropsychological assessment at baseline and 5-year follow-up. Cortical regions (N = 212) were divided into seven functional networks.
