Article Synopsis
  • This study focuses on understanding how prostate cancer transitions from a non-aggressive state to an invasive one, which could improve treatment strategies for patients.
  • Researchers discovered a new signaling pathway connecting low oxygen levels (hypoxia) and the PIM1 kinase to the actin cytoskeleton, crucial for cell movement.
  • They found that when PIM1 modifies a protein called ABI2, it boosts cell movement and tumor invasion in prostate cancer, indicating that targeting PIM1 could be a potential therapeutic approach.

Advanced or metastatic breast cancer affects multiple organs and is a leading cause of cancer-related death. Cancer metastasis is associated with epithelial-mesenchymal metastasis (EMT). However, the specific signals that induce and regulate EMT in carcinoma cells remain unclear.

There are many unknown aspects of the pathogenesis of renal cell carcinoma (RCC). The aim of the current study was to define new RCC-related genes and measure their associations with RCC and clinical parameters, especially platelet/lymphocyte ratio which may be an independent predictor of prognosis in patients with RCC and other forms of cancer. Via in silico analysis upon RCC-specific deleted genes in chromosome 3, four possible ceRNAs (ATXN3, ABI2, GOLGB1 and SMAD2) were identified.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are reported to play a critical role in the regulation of cancer cell proliferation; however, the role of microRNA-25 (miR-25) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remains unclear. In the present study, the role of miR-25 in PDAC cell proliferation was investigated. Upregulated expression of miR-25 was found in PDAC tissues and cell lines by reverse transcription-quantitative PCR.

Activities of TIS21 gene regulating cancer cell senescence were investigated in hepatoma cells by using low dose doxorubicin (Doxo, 100ng/mL). Treatment of Huh7 cells with Doxo increased linear actin nucleation e.g.
