Vibrational frequencies of guest molecules in clathrate hydrates reflect the molecular environment and dynamical behavior of molecules. A detailed understanding of the mechanism for the vibrational frequency changes of the guest molecules in the clathrate hydrate cages is still incomplete. In this study, molecular vibrations of methane molecules in a structure I clathrate hydrate are calculated from ab initio molecular dynamics simulation. The vibrational spectra of methane are computed by Fourier transform of autocorrelation functions, which reveal distinct separation of each vibrational mode. Calculated symmetric and asymmetric stretching vibrational frequencies of methane molecules are lower in the large cages than in the small cages (8 and 16 cm(-1) for symmetric and asymmetric stretching, respectively). These changes are closely linked with the C-H bond length. The vibrational frequencies for the bending and rocking vibrational modes nearly overlap in each of the cages.

Silver drugs have played a vital role in human healthcare for the treatment of infections for many centuries. Currently, due to antibiotic resistance, a potential scenario or the application of silver complexes may arise as substitutes for conventional antibiotics. In this perspective, N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands have been selected as carrier molecules for silver ions.

This study explores the low-temperature synthesis of graphene using plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD), emphasizing the optimization of process parameters to achieve controlled growth of pristine and hydrogenated graphene. Graphene films were synthesized at temperatures ranging from 700 °C to as low as 400 °C by varying methane (25-100 sccm) and hydrogen (25-100 sccm) gas flow rates under 10-20 mBar pressures. Raman spectroscopy revealed structural transitions: pristine graphene grown at 700 °C exhibited strong 2D peaks with an I(2D)/I(G) ratio > 2, while hydrogenated graphene synthesized at 500 °C showed increased defect density with an I(D)/I(G) ratio of ~1.

Department of Civil and Smart Construction Engineering, Shantou University, Shantou, Guangdong 515063, China. Electronic address:

Landfill gas (LFG) has become the second-largest anthropogenic source of methane (CH) emissions globally. CH is the second most significant greenhouse gas after carbon dioxide (CO), thus it is crucial to mitigate the methane emission of landfills. The soil in landfill cover layers is rich in methane-oxidizing bacteria (MOB), which use CH as their sole carbon and energy source.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound is composed of one host mol-ecule, -4-(1 ,5 -3-aza-1,5(3,9)-dicarbazola-cyclo-octa-phane-3-yl)benzo-nitrile and one di-chloro-methane solvate mol-ecule, CHN·CHCl. The host mol-ecule possesses a planar chirality but crystallizes as a racemate in the space group 2/. It adopts an -configuration, in which two carbazole rings are partially overlapped with a parallel orientation.

The advancement of high-value CH4 purification technology within the natural gas industry is paramount for industrial processes. Herein, we constructed ZJNU-402, a new porous material characterized by permanent porosity, as an effective adsorbent for separating C3H8/CH4 and C2H6/CH4 mixtures. The findings reveal an outstanding C3H8 adsorption capacity of 68 cm3 g-1 and a moderate C2H6 adsorption rate of 42 cm3 g-1, with a notably lower CH4 adsorption rate of 11 cm3 g-1.
