Globe avulsion secondary to maxillofacial trauma.

We report a case of globe avulsion secondary to maxillofacial trauma and propose potential mechanisms of injury. This case highlights the importance of wearing proper safety attire, especially during motorcycling.

Recent Findings: Literature review revealed 16 published studies that evaluated ocular injuries in IPV, of which the study types included 9 retrospective studies, 2 prospective, 1 review, 1 invited commentary, 2 case reports, and 1 population-based cross-sectional survey.

Objectives: To report the compartmental location of feline aural inflammatory polyps within the tympanic bulla.

Materials And Methods: Nine client-owned cats with clinical signs and middle ear filling consistent with feline aural inflammatory polyps were prospectively pre-selected and underwent unilateral or bilateral ventral bulla osteotomy. Preoperative and surgical findings, complications and outcomes were recorded.

We report a case of spontaneous total iris avulsion that occurred during corneal wound hydration following an uneventful phacoemulsification procedure. An 86-year-old woman underwent cataract surgery on her right eye, during which a single-piece acrylic intraocular lens (Bausch and Lomb Akreos Adapt Advanced Optics, Bausch and Lomb Incorporated, Rochester, NY, USA) was implanted in the bag, and the viscoelastic material was removed. During corneal wound hydration, total iris avulsion was observed, with the iris prolapsing out of the anterior chamber through the main wound.

Partial Lateral Rectus Avulsion Due to Cat Scratch.

Isolated rectus muscle rupture due to trauma without globe damage is extremely rare. The most commonly affected muscle is the medial rectus, while the least affected is the lateral rectus. The oblique muscles are much less affected by trauma because they are protected by the surrounding bone structures.

Purpose: To report two cases of vitreous hemorrhage caused by avulsed retinal vessel syndrome (ARVS), one of which was successfully treated without vascular occlusion.

Observations: A 62-year-old female presented with vitreous hemorrhage of unknown origin. We performed vitrectomy and found a detached and ruptured retinal vein below the optic nerve head.
