Purpose: The double-flap technique (DFT) is an anti-reflux reconstruction procedure performed after proximal gastrectomy (PG), but its complexity and high incidence of anastomotic stenosis are problematic. We conducted this study to demonstrate the efficacy of robot-assisted DFT, with refinements, to address these issues.
Methods: Surgical outcomes were compared between the following procedures modified over time at our institution: conventional open DFT (group O, n = 16); early robotic DFT (group RE, n = 19), which follows the conventional open PG approach; and late robotic DFT (group RL, n = 21), which incorporates refinements to the early robotic DFT technique by exploiting more of the robotic capabilities available.

Background: Submucosal tunneling endoscopic resection (STER) is considered an effective, safe and minimally invasive treatment for esophageal subepithelial lesions (SELs) with maximal dilameter less than 3.0 cm, yet its efficacy for lesions over 3.0 cm remains unclear.

Background: Medicaid expansion began in 2014 after passage of the Affordable Care Act; however, the impact and durability of the effects on lung cancer treatment utilization are poorly defined. We aimed to determine whether there is a persistent difference in utilization of lung resection, lung biopsy, and nonoperative treatment of lung cancer in states participating in Medicaid expansion compared with states that are not.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was completed analyzing the difference in utilization between Medicaid expansion states and non-expansion states in 2012-2013, 2016-2017, and 2019.

To investigate the safety and short-term effectiveness of laparoscopic-assisted cardiectomy with side-overlap esophagogastric reconstruction for the treatment of terminal or end-stage achalasia, patients with end-stage achalasia treated with laparoscopic-assisted cardiectomy with side-overlap esophagogastric reconstruction were retrospectively enrolled. The clinical data, surgical data and follow-up were analyzed. Among twenty-five patients enrolled, the achalasia type St was present in 12 (48%) patients, type Sg in 9 (36%), and type aSg in 4 (16%).

Background: CMG901 is a novel first-in-class antibody-drug conjugate with a humanised anticlaudin 18.2 antibody linked to microtubule-disrupting agent monomethyl auristatin E. We aimed to assess the antitumour activity and safety of CMG901 in patients with advanced gastric or gastro-oesophageal junction cancer and other solid tumours.
