A facile route for the synthesis of luminescent and light refractive polymers is proposed. Silole-containing diyne and halogenated tetraphenylethene derivatives are synthesized and their coupling reactions furnish poly(arylene ethynylene)s with high molecular weights in high yields. All of the polymers are soluble and film-forming and possess a high thermal stability. They emit strong green lights when their solutions and nanoparticle suspensions are photoexcited. The polymers show high refractive indices with low chromatic dispersions. Their RI values can be modulated and their thin films can be crosslinked using UV irradiation, generating negative photoresist patterns.

Lead-free halide double perovskites (DPs) have become a research hotspot in the field of photoelectrons due to their unique optical properties and flexible compositional tuning. However, the luminescence of DPs exhibits thermal quenching at high temperatures, which severely affects their further application. Herein, we synthesized the rare earth Dy and transition metal Mn codoped CsNaYCl rare earth DPs and characterized the optical properties using temperature-dependent photoluminescence spectra and time-resolved photoluminescence decay profiles at different temperatures.

This study presents the synthesis and characterization of CsNaBiCl nanocrystals (NCs) doped with varying concentrations of In to improve their luminescent properties. Utilizing a colloidal solution method, we systematically varied the In concentration to identify the optimal alloying level for enhancing the photoluminescence (PL) properties of the CsNaBiCl NCs. Structural analysis confirmed that the In-alloyed NCs maintained high crystallinity and a uniform cubic shape.

Photoresponsive drug delivery systems have great potential for improved cancer therapy. However, most of the currently available drug-delivery nanosystems are relatively large and require light excitation with low tissue penetration. Here, we designed a near infrared responsive drug delivery system by loading [Ru(terpyridine)(dipyridophenazine)(HO)] (Ru(tpy)DPPZ) in azobenzene-modified mesoporous silica coated NaGdF:Nd/Yb/Tm upconversion nanoparticles (azo-mSiO-UCNPs).

New tetrakis Eu and Gd β-diketonate complexes containing benzimidazolium (Bzim) as the counterion were synthesized by the one-pot method. The Bzim[Eu(tta)]·HO complex was further incorporated into a poly(methyl methacrylate) matrix (PMMA) at 1, 5, and 10% (w/w), which revealed highly desirable photonic features. The Eu and Gd complexes were characterized by elemental and thermal analyses, in addition to ESI-MS spectrometry, FTIR, and Raman spectroscopy.

Regulating strategies for long persistent luminescence (LPL) are always in high demand. Herein, a series of coordination polymers (CPs) (SUST-Z1-Z4) are fabricated using 1,10-phenanthroline derivatives involving different substituents (─H, ─CH, ─Cl, and ─Br) as ligands, respectively. Crystallographic data demonstrate that these CPs adopt alternating arrangements of cadmium halide chains and π-conjugated ligands.
