is an important pathogen responsible for cases of high mortality in farmed and wild fish worldwide. In Brazil, this bacterium has been commonly associated with outbreaks in Nile tilapia farms, but other native fish species are also susceptible. Since floating cages are one of the most common culture systems used in the country, the close contact between farmed tilapia and native fish species presents a risk concerning the transmission of this pathogen.

DOPAC as a modulator of α-Synuclein and E46K interactions with membrane: Insights into binding dynamics.

Int J Biol Macromol

January 2025

Department of Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences, University of Padova, Padova, Italy. Electronic address:

α-Synuclein (Syn) is an intrinsically disordered protein, abundant in presynaptic neurons. It is a constituent of the Lewis Body inclusions as amyloid fibrils, in Parkinson's disease patients. It populates an ensemble of conformations and floats between the free random coil and the membrane-bound α-helical species.

Interleaved quartic high gain DC-DC converter.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Power Electronics Research Laboratory (PERL), Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Sahand University of Technology, Tabriz, Iran.

This research paper presents a high-gain DC-DC converter with ultra-step-up voltage gain capability. The proposed converter is synthesized from a two-phase interleaved boost converter (IBC), and its voltage gain is doubled by adopting a voltage lift capacitor. To enhance its voltage gain capability, a floating capacitor-based gain extension cell is adopted subsequently.

We developed a versatile 'IHC/LCM-Seq' method for spatial transcriptomics of immunohistochemically detected neurons collected with laser-capture microdissection (LCM). IHC/LCM-Seq uses aluminon and polyvinyl sulfonic acid for inventive RNA-preserving strategies to maintain RNA integrity in free-floating sections of 4% formaldehyde-fixed brains. To validate IHC/LCM-Seq, we first immunostained and harvested striatal cholinergic interneurons with LCM.

Rhizosphere microbial community structure and PICRUSt2 predicted metagenomes function in heavy metal contaminated sites: A case study of the Blesbokspruit wetland.

Sci Total Environ

December 2024

Centre for Competence in Environmental Biotechnology, College of Sciences, Environment and Technology, University of South Africa, Florida Science Campus, South Africa.

This study investigated the microbial diversity inhabiting the roots (rhizosphere) of macrophytes thriving along the Blesbokspruit wetland, South Africa's least conserved Ramsar site. The wetland suffers from decades of pollution from mining wastewater, agriculture, and sewage. The current study focused on three macrophytes: Phragmites australis (common reed), Typha capensis (bulrush), and Eichhornia crassipes (water hyacinth).
