Solitary plasmacytomas are localized single tumors of monoclonal plasma cells that occur in two variants: solitary plasmacytoma of bone and extraosseous plasmacytoma. Solitary plasmacytoma of bone accounts for only 1%-2% of plasma cell lesions, and extraosseous plasmacytoma is also approximately 1%. These are both very uncommon at the skull base.

The aim of this study is to describe the management and evolution of a patient with the rare condition of double lactotroph tumors and assess the role of intraoperative ultrasonography (IOUS) for their detection and methylation-based liquid biopsy for their diagnosis and monitoring. A 29-year-old woman diagnosed with double lactotroph tumors through hormonal and MRI workup underwent surgical resection due to cabergoline intolerance. To detect a tumor missing through visual inspection, IOUS was performed.

Objectives: Transoral robotic surgery (TORS) and transoral laser microsurgery (TOLM) plus neck dissection are viable alternatives to radiotherapy as a treatment modality in select cases of oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma. Many centers advocate for elective ligation of the feeding arteries at index neck dissection prior to TORS/TOLM to mitigate the risk of catastrophic perioperative hemorrhage. Although there are multiple cadaveric studies in the literature to identify the lingual artery at multiple points throughout its course, there are no studies on the intraoperative identification of the lingual artery for elective ligation prior to TORS/TOLM.

Purpose: Conjunctival autografts (CAGs) are the gold standard treatment after pterygium resection, but it is challenging to achieve consistently thin Tenon-free CAGs with manual dissection. We herein report the reproducibility and clinical outcomes of a novel algorithm to produce customizable trapezoidal CAGs using femtosecond laser (femtosecond lasers)-assisted pterygium surgery.
Methods: We first tested this algorithm in 4 pig eyes to show reproducibility.

BACKGROUND Acute liver failure (ALF) remains a critical concern, accounting for about 8% of all liver transplants, with acetaminophen overdose contributing to nearly half of these cases. Besides synthetic toxins, natural toxins such as phallotoxin from Amanita phalloides mushrooms also lead to severe hepatocyte damage. This study investigates the outcomes of liver transplantation (LT) as a life-saving intervention in patients suffering from ALF due to acetaminophen and Amanita phalloides poisoning.
