In the title compound, [Cu(CH(3)CO(2))(2)(C(9)H(7)N(3))(H(2)O)](n), the Cu(II) ion is penta-coordinated in a square-pyramidal geometry. The N atoms of the two chelating symmetry-related 5-(pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidine ligands and the O atoms of the two monodentate acetate anions are nearly coplanar, with a mean deviation from the least-squares plane of 0.157 (2) Å and the Cu(II) ion is displaced by 0.050 (3) Å from this plane towards the apical water O atom. Bridging through the bis-monodentate 5-(pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidine ligand forms a one-dimensional coordination polymer extending parallel to [010]. In the crystal, O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a two-dimensional supra-molecular structure parallel to (100). The crystal studied was an inversion twin with a 0.57 (3):0.43 (3) domain ratio.

Industrial wastewater containing heavy metal ions presents serious economic risk to the environment. In this study, a novel compound of aminated cellulose with jeffamine EDR148 was prepared to improve cellulose's adsorptive behavior towards metal ions. This study undertook a straightforward and efficient cellulose modification through homogeneous chlorination in N,N'-butylmethylimidazolium chloride to produce 6-deoxychlorocellulose (Cell-Cl), followed by a reaction with jeffamine EDR148 and ultimately resulting in the formation of aminated cellulose (Cell-Jef148).

The interaction of sodium phytate hydrate CHOP·xNa·yHO (phytNa) with Cu(OAc)·HO and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) led to the anionic tetranuclear complex [Cu(HO)(phen)(phyt)]·2Na·2NH·32HO (), the structure of the latter was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The phytate is completely deprotonated; six phosphate fragments (with atoms P1-P6) are characterized by different spatial arrangements relative to the cyclohexane ring (1a5e conformation), which determines two different types of coordination to the complexing agents-P1 and P3, P4, and P6 have monodentate, while P2 and P5 are bidentately bound to Cu cations. The molecular structure of the anion complex is stabilized by a set of strong intramolecular hydrogen bonds involving coordinated water molecules.

Nano-fibrillated bacterial cellulose (NFBC) has very long fibers (>17 μm) with diameters of approximately 20 nm. Hence, they have a very high aspect ratio and surface area. The high specific surface area of NFBC can potentially be utilized as an adsorbent.

Gold-silver synergism has been well documented in many scientific works dealing with luminescent nanostructures that are exploitable in biomedical and environmental application. Frequently, the ratio of Au : Ag in synthetic mixtures was varied to influence the extent of Au-Ag synergism of the resulting luminescent gold-silver nanoclusters (GSNCs). However, in our approach, a new step, maturing under differing conditions using the same Au : Ag ratio (5 : 1), has been investigated systematically for the very first time.

[CuL(tmen)] is a sequence of four ternary mononuclear Schiff base copper(II) complexes that are derived from L-valine, suitable 5'-substituted-2'-hydroxyacetophenones (where the substituents are -Cl for L, -Me for L, -OMe for L, and -H for L), and tmen (where tmen-N,N,N',N' tetramethyl ethylenediamine). Without isolating the Schiff base ligand or producing any other intermediate products, all of the complexes were synthesised. These compounds were identified using elemental analysis, molar conductance, UV-Vis, FTIR, EPR, VSM-RT, and CD spectra.
