A series of new aurantiamide acetate analogues were synthesized by modifying its N-terminal substitution and the amino acid residue. The structure of all these compounds was established on the basis of analytical and spectral studies. All the new derivatives were evaluated in vivo for their analgesic activity by tail flick method in mice and anti-inflammatory activity against carrageenan-induced oedema in albino rats at different doses (25, 50 and 100 mg/kg body weight). All the compounds exhibited significant pharmacological activity with no ulcerogenic liability. In particular, pentapeptides and tricosamers (30 amino acids) containing analogues have demonstrated high potency than the reference standards. These compounds hold promise for further development.

A chemical investigation of the aerial parts of Piper sarmentosum resulted in the isolation and identification of 14 amide alkaloids, including three new amide alkaloids, pipersarmenoids A - C (1-3), three new natural amide alkaloids, pipersarmenoids D - F (4-6), and 8 known analogues, N-p-coumaroyltyramine (7), piperlotine C (8), piperlotine D (9), pellitorine (10), sarmentine (11), aurantiamide acetate (12), 1-cinnamoyl pyrrolidine (13) and sarmentamide B (14). Their structures were determined by spectroscopic analysis including HRESIMS and 1D and 2D NMR. The cytotoxicity, neuroinflammation-inhibiting and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory activities of those compounds were tested.

NASH (non-alcoholic steatohepatitis) is a severe liver disease characterized by hepatic chronic inflammation that can be associated with the gut microbiota. In this study, we explored the therapeutic effect of extract (GPE), a Chinese herbal extract, on methionine- and choline-deficient (MCD) diet-induced NASH mice. Based on the peak area, the top ten compounds in GPE were hydroxylinolenic acid, rutin, hydroxylinoleic acid, vanillic acid, methyl vanillate, quercetin, pheophorbide A, protocatechuic acid, aurantiamide acetate, and iso-rhamnetin.

Biodiscovery efforts in Indonesia have aimed to explore the understudied chemical diversity of its rich lichen flora, seeking to find new products endowed with significant biological properties. The chemical screening of a extract led to selection of this species for further investigation.
