Leaf respiration is a major metabolic process that drives energy production and growth. Earlier works in this field were focused on the measurement of respiration rates in relation to carbohydrate content, photosynthesis, enzymatic activities or nitrogen content. Recently, several studies have shed light on the mechanisms describing the regulation of respiration in the light and in the dark and on associated metabolic flux patterns. This review will highlight advances made into characterizing respiratory fluxes and provide a discussion of metabolic respiration dynamics in relation to important biological functions.

Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) presents significant challenges in neonatal management, particularly in the context of anesthesia. This case report details the successful anesthetic management of a five-day-old neonate with left-sided CDH requiring thoracoscopic repair. A five-day-old neonate, delivered via emergency cesarean section due to breech presentation, presented with severe respiratory distress and was diagnosed with left-sided CDH.

We analyze the proteome changes during the development of the carnauba palm (Copernicia prunifera) seedlings under skotomorphogenic conditions, by separating the embryo into its two components: haustorium (HA) and cotyledonary petiole (CP) and established the descriptive and quantitative proteomes of these tissues across four developmental stages. 5205 proteins were identified in HA and 6028 in CP. These proteomes are rich in proteins known to maintain the skotomorphogenic state, and in a complete set of proteins involved in cellular respiration and biosynthesis of secondary metabolites.

Background: Continuous veno-venous hemodiafiltration (CVVHDF) is used in critically ill patients, but its impact on O₂ and CO₂ removal, as well as the accuracy of resting energy expenditure (REE) measurement using indirect calorimetry (IC) remains unclear. This study aims to evaluate the effects of CVVHDF on O₂ and CO₂ removal and the accuracy of REE measurement using IC in patients undergoing continuous renal replacement therapy.
