Following the method of Prato et al., reaction of C(60), N-methylglycine and o-(diphenylphosphino)benzaldehyde affords PPh(2)(o-C(6)H(4))(CH(2)NMeCH)C(60) (1) in moderate yield. Compound 1 reacts with W(CO)(4)(NCMe)(2) to produce W(CO)(4)(η(3)-PPh(2)(o-C(6)H(4))(CH(2)NMeCH)C(60)) (2), through coordination of the phosphine group and one 6 : 6-ring junction of fullerene. Reaction of 1 and Os(3)(CO)(11)(NCMe) affords Os(3)(CO)(11)(PPh(2)(o-C(6)H(4))(CH(2)NMeCH)C(60)) (3), which undergoes a cluster fragmentation reaction in refluxing toluene to produce Os(CO)(3)(η(3)-PPh(2)(o-C(6)H(4))(CH(2)NMeCH)C(60)) (4). Thermal reaction of 1 and Os(3)(CO)(12) affords 3 and 4. On the other hand, reaction of 1 and Ru(3)(CO)(12) yields only the mononuclear complex Ru(CO)(3)(η(3)-PPh(2)(o-C(6)H(4))(CH(2)NMeCH)C(60)) (5). The structures of 1-3 and 5 were determined by an X-ray diffraction study.

Adapting biological systems for nanoparticle synthesis opens an orthogonal Green direction in nanoscience by reducing the reliance on harsh chemicals and energy-intensive procedures. This study addresses the challenge of efficient catalyst preparation for organic synthesis, focusing on the rapid formation of palladium (Pd) nanoparticles using bacterial cells as a renewable and eco-friendly support. The preparation of catalytically active nanoparticles on the bacterium VKM B-3302 represents a more suitable approach to increase the reaction efficiency due to its resistance to metal salts.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common malignant primary brain tumor, with a mean survival of less than 2 years. Unique brain structures and the microenvironment, including blood-brain barriers, put great challenges on clinical drug development. Background: Cabotegravir + rilpivirine (CAB + RPV) administered via intramuscular gluteal injections is the first complete long-acting regimen for maintaining human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) virologic suppression. We present substudy results on short-term repeat intramuscular CAB + RPV long-acting thigh injections in participants with ≥3 years of experience with gluteal administration during the ATLAS-2M study.

Methods: Substudy phases included screening, thigh injection (day 1-week 16), and return to gluteal injection (week 16-week 24).

Interfacial engineering-induced electronic state modulation in Ru/MoS heterostructures for efficient hydrogen evolution reaction.

Key Laboratory of Functional Membrane Material and Membrane Technology, Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, 189 Songling Road, Qingdao, 266101, China.

In traditional binary heterojunction catalysts, mismatched energy band structures lead to higher electron transfer barriers. By reducing the work function difference a ternary Ru-RuS/MoS heterostructure, we developed a HER catalyst with remarkable activity (17 mV@10 mA cm) and excellent stability (300 h@500 mA cm).

The ubiquity of countertransferential and other personal responses in progression deliberations.

Int J Psychoanal

December 2024

Training and Supervising Analyst, Faculty and former Chair, Student Progression Committee, Psychoanalytic Association of New York (PANY) affiliated with NYU Grossman School of Medicine, New York, NY, USA.

Countertransferential and other types of personal responses to candidates are inevitable among psychoanalytic educators, whether they be supervisors, progression advisors, the progression committee as a whole, or course instructors. Nonetheless many educators remain unaware of these phenomena - despite the robust literature on this subject in supervisors - perhaps because we do not like to think of ourselves as having potentially deleterious personal reactions to younger colleagues with whom we have significant and highly valued relationships. This paper emphasizes the role of such phenomena in progression advisors' deliberations about candidates' development, as well as in the committee as a whole - a subject not addressed in the literature.
