A highly selective colorimetric and fluorescence enhanced probe S1 (M2@Cu) for histidine and histidine-rich proteins has been developed. In neutral aqueous ethanol solution, probe S1 can selectively detect histidine out of twenty DNA encoded amino acids by showing a color change from brownish red to light green, and with a fluorescence enhancement up to 99-fold at 537 nm, simultaneously.

Impeding linear calibration models from accurately predicting target sample analyte amounts are the target sample-wise deviations in measurement profiles (e.g., spectra) relative to calibration samples.

Background: While universal screening for Lp(a; lipoprotein[a]) is increasingly recommended, <0.5% of patients undergo Lp(a) testing. Here, we assessed the feasibility of deploying Algorithmic Risk Inspection for Screening Elevated Lp(a; ARISE), a validated machine learning tool, to health system electronic health records to increase the yield of Lp(a) testing.

β-Addition products are common in conjugate addition reactions consisting of α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds. Here, we are reporting an uncommon α-addition product as a major product in the thioacetic acid conjugate addition reaction on a peptide consisting of ()-α,β-unsaturated γ-amino acids. In addition, we observed highly diastereoselective β-addition products from the thiophenol and thioethanol conjugate addition reaction on peptides.

Latent time series models such as (the independent sum of) ARMA(, ) models with additional stochastic processes are increasingly used for data analysis in biology, ecology, engineering, and economics. Inference on and/or prediction from these models can be highly challenging: (i) the data may contain outliers that can adversely affect the estimation procedure; (ii) the computational complexity can become prohibitive when the time series are extremely large; (iii) model selection adds another layer of (computational) complexity; and (iv) solutions that address (i), (ii), and (iii) simultaneously do not exist in practice. This paper aims at jointly addressing these challenges by proposing a general framework for robust two-step estimation based on a bounded influence M-estimator of the wavelet variance.

The separation of C cyclic hydrocarbons (benzene, cyclohexene, and cyclohexane) is one of the most challenging chemical processes in the petrochemical industry. Herein, we design and synthesize a new SOD-topology metal azolate framework (MAF) with aperture gating behaviour controlled by C-Br⋯N halogen bonds, which exhibits distinct temperature- and guest-dependent adsorption behaviours for benzene/cyclohexene/cyclohexane. More importantly, the MAF enables the efficient purification of benzene from its binary and ternary mixtures (selectivity up to 113 ± 2; purity up to 98% +), which is the highest record for benzene/cyclohexane/cyclohexene separation to date.
