The topic of this article is the compression physics of different gum bases which can be used to prepare chewing gum tablets by direct compression. Three different gum bases, Pharmagum(®) C, M and S, were tested alone and in different combinations. The preparations were compressed with a Korsch EK0 eccentric tableting machine at compression forces of 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5 and 15 kN. The compression and breaking processes and the physical parameters of the tablets were investigated. The results revealed that increase of the compression force did not significantly change the studied parameters of the tablets.

Chemical crosslinking is a method widely used to enhance the mechanical strength of biopolymer-based scaffolds. Polysaccharides are natural and biodegradable carbohydrate polymers that can act as crosslinking agents to promote the formation of scaffolds. Compared to synthetic crosslinking agents, Polysaccharide-based crosslinking agents have better biocompatibility for cell adhesion and growth.

Few studies have been conducted on the relationship between the crosslinking ability of dialdehyde polysaccharides (DPs) with different structures and the structure and properties of hydrogels. Herein, the effects of dialdehyde sodium alginate (DSA), dialdehyde guar gum (DGG), and dialdehyde dextran (DDE) as crosslinking agents for gelatin (GE)-based hydrogels were comparatively studied. First, the structure and aldehyde content of DPs were evaluated.

Currently, glutaraldehyde (GA)-crosslinked bioprosthetic heart valves (BHVs) still do not guarantee good biocompatibility and long-term effective durability for clinical application due to their subacute thrombus, inflammation, calcification, tearing and limited durability. In this study, double-modified xanthan gum (oxidized/vinylated xanthan gum (OCXG)) was acquired from xanthan gum for subsequent double crosslinking and modification platform construction. Sulfonic acid groups with anticoagulant properties were also introduced through the free radical polymerization of vinyl sulfonate (VS) and vinyl on OCXG.

Depending on how severe it is, malocclusion, which may involve misaligned teeth, jaws, or a combination of the two, can hurt a person's overall facial aesthetics. The maxillary molar develops before the mandibular molar in class II malocclusion, which affects 15% of the population in the United States. With a retrusive mandible, patients typically have a convex profile.
