In this study, single-use graphite electrodes modified with 5-amino-2-mercapto-1,3,4-thidiazole (AMT) were fabricated for electrochemical monitoring of DNA. The surfaces of AMT modified pencil graphite electrodes (PGEs) were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Electrochemical behaviors of these electrodes were investigated using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The effects of pretreatment of PGE and immobilization time and concentration of AMT were studied to facilitate an effective immobilization on PGE surface. The efficiency of immobilization is verified by measuring the oxidation signals of either AMT itself or adenine base of DNA, immobilized onto AMT modified electrodes.

Tert-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) is a widely used synthetic phenolic antioxidant found in edible oils and other fried foods. Nevertheless, the excess use of TBHQ can reduce food quality and impact public health. In this paper, we reported the synthesis of a nanocomposite consisting of carbon and nitrogen co-doped nickel oxide (NiO-N/C-700), which was used to modify a pencil graphite electrode for the sensitive detection of TBHQ.

High power pulse generators are moving in the direction of compact, solid-state, and stable working in a relatively long time. In this paper, a compact pulse forming line-Marx type high power pulse generator, based on a ceramic pulse forming line and a spark gap switch with carbide modified graphite electrodes, is studied numerically and experimentally. Specifically, a ceramic based pulse forming line with high relative permittivity was used to achieve long pulse duration in a limited dimension.

Background: β-lactoglobulin (β-Lg), a major allergen in dairy products, can trigger severe allergic reactions and even fatal outcomes in infants. In this work, we develop a new low background current redox recycling strategy by conjugating the electrochemical mediator to trimetallic hybrid nanoparticles (NPs)-dispersed graphene as the signal tag, which is coupled with DNAzyme amplifications to construct highly catalytic and ultrasensitive β-Lg aptasensor.

Results: Target β-Lg molecules bind aptamers in DNAzyme/aptamer duplexes to release active DNAzymes to initiate cyclic cleavage of hairpin substrates.
