The operating conditions of a rf plasma ion source utilizing a positively biased electrode have been investigated to develop a stably operating, high-current ion source. Ion beam characteristics such as currents and energies are measured and compared with bias currents by varying the bias voltages on the electrode immersed in the ambient rf plasma. Current-voltage curves of the bias electrode and photographs confirm that a small and dense plasma, so-called anode spot, is formed near an extraction aperture and plays a key role to enhance the performance of the plasma ion source. The ion beam currents from the anode spot are observed to be maximized at the optimum bias voltage near the knee of the characteristic current-voltage curve of the anode spot. Increased potential barrier to obstruct beam extraction is the reason for the reduction of the ion beam current in spite of the increased bias current indicating the density of the anode spot. The optimum bias voltage is measured to be lower at higher operating pressure, which is favorable for stable operation without severe sputtering damage on the electrode. The ion beam current can be further enhanced by increasing the power for the ambient plasma without increasing the bias voltage. In the same manner, noble gases with higher atomic number as a feedstock gas are preferable for extracting higher beam current more stably. Therefore, performance of the plasma ion source with a positively biased electrode can be enhanced by controlling the operating conditions of the anode spot in various manners.

This study aimed to develop an efficient HHO generator with higher gas production, enhanced electrodes, and stable current density. For HHO generator stack fabrication, 15 plates of 304L stainless steel were utilized, accompanied with a 4 mm rubber separator to maintain the gap between electrodes. Each plate in the stack was connected a separate wire through lug spot welding, enabling the assembly of different configurations for testing.

The band gap energy of halide perovskite semiconductors is manipulated by controlling the halide composition, and mixed halide perovskites are receiving much attention as top cell materials for tandem solar cells. To understand dynamic aspects of photoinduced halide segregation in mixed-halide perovskite films, we use a hyperspectral imaging technique. Background: The permitted input power density of rotating anode x-ray sources is limited by the performance of available target materials. The commonly used simplified formulas for the focal spot surface temperature ignore the tube voltage despite its variation in clinical practice. Improved modeling of electron transport and target erosion, as proposed in this work, improves the prediction of x-ray output degradation by target erosion, the absolute x-ray dose output and the quality of diagnostic imaging and orthovolt cancer therapy for a wide range of technique factors.

A dominant event determining the course of heart failure (HF) includes the disruption of the delicate sodium (Na) and water balance leading to (Na) and water retention and edema formation. Although incomplete decongestion adversely affects outcomes, it is unknown whether interventions directly targeting (Na), such as strict dietary (Na) restriction, intravenous hypertonic saline, and diuretics, reverse this effect. As a result, it is imperative to implement (Na)-targeting interventions in selected HF patients with established congestion on top of quadruple therapy with angiotensin receptor neprilysin inhibitor, β-adrenergic receptor blocker, mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist, and sodium glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor, which dramatically improves outcomes.
